@watchonthewrist and his Vianney Halter Classic (with salmon-coloured dial) - Monochrome Watches
Restarting The Collector’s Series was already in the planning for quite some time. Not easy with our small team, especially since part of the team is on the road a lot, so the current situation proved to be the right moment to reach out to some friends and ask them to participate. The reason why I wanted to do this series is not just to show some remarkable watches but mainly to hear from the owner why he or she wanted to buy that particular watch. The story on “why”, is to me one of the most interesting stories. Today we’re talking with @watchonthewrist about his stunning Vianney Halter Classic with a salmon-colour dial.?We do not cover Vianney Halter a lot over here at MONOCHROME, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like his watches. We do! In fact, the watches mentioned by @watchonthewrist are also on my wish list! Vianney Halter is an artisanal watchmaker with his very own style, a recognizable and strong design, and someone who works at his own pace.
Hands-On - Ulysse Nardin Executive Moonstruck Worldtimer (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
Ulysse Nardin’s history is deeply linked to Marine chronometers, yet there’s another speciality, rather forgotten, that the manufacture masters (and which is not that far from Marine watches), the astronomical watches. Some may recall the mid-1980s Trilogy –?Astrolabium Galileo Galilei (introduced in 1985), Planetarium Copernicus (introduced in 1988) and Tellurium Johannes Kepler (introduced in 1992). This year, UN introduces yet another astronomical watch, the?Moonstruck Worldtimer, combining the movements of the moon and sun in relation to the Earth, as well as a map of the tides and (novelty) a world-time display. You say complex, we say exciting. In a strictly literal definition, there are in fact many astronomical watches on the market… as long as you consider a moon-phase display enough to warrant this definition. Thus, with a watchmaking approach in mind, the concept of an astronomical watch relates to a timepiece with several indications, which can includ
Introducing Riskers Prolog I and Chapter I - Value Proposition Launching on Kickstarter (Hands-On, Specs & Price)
The watch industry is undergoing a transformation. Multiple young microbrands have popped up on the scene, relying on crowdfunding to launch their (interesting or not) projects. New on the scene is a brand named Riskers, a French venture with models inspired by trench military watches, modernized for the occasion. But what's special about Riskers, apart from the watches, is the people behind the project – and that says a lot about the current state of the industry. Let's have a look at the Riskers Prolog I and Chapter I.Behind this new French brand are people with quite some background. In fact, it is the result of former Richemont Group (owner of Cartier, JLC, IWC, Lange and many more) executives teaming up to launch a watch brand on Kickstarter! Clearly unconventional. Going by the name of Riskers, the company was co-founded by Pierre Guerrier, who worked as part of Richemont’s marketing services for Piaget, and serial entrepreneur, Thomas No?l. Spotted - Cristiano Ronaldo with Breguet Double Tourbillon 5349PT
Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese footballer who currently plays for the Turin-based club Juventus. He is also one of the most famous players on the planet alongside Argentinian player Lionel Messi of Barcelona. And as you can expect from him, he plays some serious “foot game”… but also some serious “wrist game”, as he’s been seen yesterday with “just” a paved, platinum Breguet Double Tourbillon ref. 5349PT.?Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo – or CR7 for the fans – has sported a couple of complicated pieces, albeit adorned with extra bling. The first one was a Hublot MP09 Tourbillon Bi-Axial adorned with baguette diamonds on a rubber strap. The second was a Girard-Perregaux Planetarium with tri-axial Tourbillon in rose gold. This watch was even more iced out than the first one, with the matching bracelet also featuring diamonds everywhere. It seems he does like watches that feature serious complications.Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates
Only Watch 2015 - Unique Ulysse Nardin Only Watch Stranger Ref. 6903-125/OW - Monochrome-Watches
Watches that actually ‘sing‘ are?something quite usual in the watchmaking industry – even if those watches that we call a repeater are usually requiring very deep pockets. These watches strike the time on demand (in order to have an indication of time without looking at the watch but only by hearing the sound of the chimes). Ulysse Nardin, which are?not known to be the worst watchmakers of Switzerland, have something slightly different to offer, a watch that doesn’t strike the time but that properly (and mechanically) plays music. The Ulysse Nardin Stranger is unique on its own and become even more special now, as for Only Watch 2015, the brand just created a one-of-a-kind piece that plays Rock ‘n’ Roll.Only by the action of a mechanical device, the Ulysse Nardin Only watch Stranger is able to play one of the most iconic rock ballads?of the legendary music band Queen: ‘We are the Champions’,?written by Freddie Mercury.
