Introducing: New Red Gold Versions of the Updated IWC Portugieser 40 and 42 Automatic
2024 was all about the Portugieser at IWC, the brand’s most classic and elegant collection. Of course, the star of the show was the Portugieser Eternal Calendar, a secular calendar watch that made it to our list of the best watches of the year. There were many more updated versions of this emblematic watch launched at W&W 2024, including superb colours for the chronograph, updated QPs and revised editions of the Portugieser 40 and 42 Automatic. In both cases, a classic combination was missing: a gold case and silver dial, which is the maximum expression of timelessness. Problem solved as IWC presents red gold versions of the 40mm IW3584 and the 42mm IW5017 of its icon.?The update that these models underwent in April 2024 was subtle, to say the least. We were looking at slightly retouched cases with thinner middle cases combined with box-shaped crystals – front and back – adding to the slenderness of these models. For the Portugieser 40 Automatic, a watch first lau

The idea of getting a watch for summer often goes down to sourcing a dive watch… It’s the easy solution. Lifetime Warranty, Genuinely Good or Just a Good Marketing Gimmick? The Zenith 50-Year Case - Monochrome Watches
The number of watch brands introducing very long warranties is as long as the history of modern (post-quartz crisis) watchmaking. Until recently, two years of warranty was the norm. However, more and more watchmakers tend to offer five years and even more for some special editions. And that raises the question: does it actually make any sense from a consumer’s point of view??Earlier this year, Zenith introduced re-edition versions of the 1969 El Primero watch, the A386 revival, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its iconic movement and model. And it added a 50-year warranty! Now that is a very nice gesture, and it really shows Zenith's good intentions. With this kind of a warranty, this iconic watch and movement will probably exist longer than you and I will. Vacheron Constantin Overseas Steel and Titanium - Monochrome Watches
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas is one of the watches that I’ve liked since I first saw it. So a post about this watch has been long overdue. Recently I visted Brussels for a nice weekend and I just happened to walk by a Vacheron Constantin dealer. In the window they had the Overseas Chronograph Steel & Titanium on display, a model that I hadn’t seen or touched so I went in to have a look. Not sure if that was a smart move, because it’s an absolute gorgeous watch and it moved up in the wishlist with lightning speed. The first models of the Overseas Steel & Titanium collection?where launched in the summer of 2009. These where the?Overseas Automatic and the Overseas Automatic Chronograph.
