Comparative The A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 and Lange 1 Daymatic (Specs & price)
The other day A. Lange & Sohne sent us two watches for review and not one, as is normal procedure. The two watches were the new blue dial Lange 1 and Lange 1 Daymatic. While the new blue dials are stunning (really they are!), we already covered them and well, without being blase about it, it’s a dial colour and we cannot say much more about this. The thing that really intrigues me, ever since the Lange 1 Daymatic was introduced back in 2010, is how these two timepieces compare. So we put them next to one another, the iconic hand-wound Lange 1 that has become so important for the brand and the newer automatic sibling named Lange 1 Daymatic. How do they compare? What are the differences and common points? And, what is your favourite? The Lange 1 was presented as one of the first four wristwatches introduced by the resurrected A. Lange & Sohne?in 1994. Together with the Arkade, the Saxonia and the Tourbillon Pour le Merite, it made history, and especially the Lange 1, which b
Introducing: The Audemars ROO Chronograph End of Days Revival 26420CE
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore a.k.a. The Beast, and we have already seen several new models launched by the brand from Le Brassus to celebrate the event, like the ROO Chronograph 43mm Black Ceramic and Yellow Gold, or the stunning Black Ceramic Beast. The latest edition of the ROO is based on this recent one but is dressed differently as it takes you back to the 1990s and the End of Days, the reference 25770SN. The new model highlights the importance of that limited edition watch released in 1999 in collaboration with Arnold Schwarzenegger, as the legendary timepiece inspires its attire.End of Days is not a film you should have spent your time watching back in 1999, and it certainly is not worth it now. The leading role that Arnold Schwarzenegger was cast for is said to have been written for Tom Cruise, who went on to work on Magnolia instead (good for you, Tom!). Liv Tyler and Kate Winslet rejected offers as Arnie's female counterpart. Sam Raimi and Gu
Hands-On: The Salmon Art-Deco Cartier Tank Americaine in Platinum
The name Tank at Cartier means far more than just a watch… It’s an entire range of watches, all distinguished by some design elements first defined by the so-called Tank Normale of 1917. From there, the collection expanded to dozens of designs, such as the Tank Louis Cartier, the Cintree, the Fran?aise and the Asymetrique, just to name a few. In 2023, Cartier relaunched the Tank Americaine, a Tank watch with an elongated and curved rectangular case, first introduced in 1989. The return was made with ultra-classic versions in steel or gold, with white dials. But some months ago, without making much noise about it, the brand unveiled a pair of precious versions with Art-Deco sector dials, including this handsome platinum-salmon version.?The Tank Americaine might not be the most popular model in the brand’s collection – the Louis Cartier holds the title. It’s also a watch that can, in a way, easily be confused with the Tank Cintree. But it shouldn’t. De
The Longines HydroConquest GMT, An (Almost) Perfect Traveller's Dive Watch
The long-standing HydroConquest collection of diving watches by Longines has been a fan favourite for years. Since its introduction in 2007, it gained significant traction with enthusiasts and collectors. It was presented as a more modern diving tool to offset the retro-styled Legend Diver, also (re)launched in 2007. During the course of its life so far, plenty of colour variations have been introduced, including two-tone models with gold PVD elements. The most significant expansion to the range, though, came earlier this year as Longines decided it was time to up the HydroConquest’s versatility. Incorporating True GMT functionality, the Longines HydroConquest GMT becomes a robust diving watch fit for a globetrotting lifestyle. So, with all this in mind and a hands-on experience being a touch overdue, we have finally spent some time with two of the four new HydroConquest GMTs.With the introduction of the HydroConquest GMT also came a slightly new case design. The stout 41mm wide
The New And Awesome TAG Heuer Carrera Glassbox Chronograph In Gold
The buzz surrounding TAG Heuer’s celebration of the 60th anniversary of the iconic Carrera chronograph was hard to miss this year. The brand marked this significant milestone by introducing several timepieces to the collection, much to the delight of enthusiasts. Earlier in the year, we were happy to unveil the Carrera Glassbox references and the 60th Anniversary Edition Panda. Now, it’s time to introduce the captivating gold version, a timepiece that embodies the cherished features of the Carrera Glassbox while exuding style with its yellow gold case and dial. While some may question the suitability of gold for a sports watch, it’s worth remembering that winners receive gold medals. Jack Heuer designed the Carrera for race car drivers, and he had a tradition of gifting gold-cased Carreras to the fastest individuals on Earth, including Ferrari drivers and the remarkable Ronnie Peterson, a Swedish racing legend. In 1972, Jack Heuer presented Ronnie Peterson with the 18k
