IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition 150 Years - SIHH 2018 Hands-On Review (Specs & Price)
With IWC introducing so many limited-edition references for its 150th anniversary this year (there are 27 in total), it's been hard work picking a favourite. The blue dial Portugieser Chronograph is certainly high on the list, as of course is the Tribute to Pallweber. If I had to choose just one, however, I think it would have to be the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition 150 Years (IW503405). Striking design, practical complexity and a dial I could stare at for hours, it really does offer a lot of watch for the money. As you have already read countless times by now, IWC is celebrating its 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the company has created a limited edition Jubilee collection comprised of more than two dozen references with special white or blue lacquered dials. The finish on the dials is achieved by adding up to 12 coats of transparent lacquer, firing in an oven and then manual flat polishing to create an enamel-like effect. The Seiko 5 Sports has been, and still is a very important collection to Seiko, and I’m sure pretty much all of us came into contact with one at some point in life. It’s widely considered a gateway mechanical watch, one that introduces loads of people to the world of mechanical watchmaking. And while some might move on, I still love a good Seiko from time to time. And this one seemed a very?good one by the looks of it. So, a quick call to our Seiko contact, a little wait, and here we are, going hands-on with it. And perhaps ruining the surprise; the new Seiko 5 Sports 55th Anniversary Limited Edition SRPK17 is even better in person! As we’ve explained before, the Seiko 5 collection was introduced in 1963, with the beefier Seiko 5 Sports following in 1

You know us here at Monochrome-Watches. Apart from the big names, there is something?that we especially love here: independent watchmaking. We do have a special appeal for watches manufactures by independent, smaller and creative watchmakers, not because they are always better executed?than those from the bigger brands, but mainly because they have something extra: a soul, a link to the people behind their construction, a certain originality that large brands can’t achieve (mainly for commercial reasons…).
