Introducing The New TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Racing Blue Calibre 11
More than 50 years after its presentation, TAG Heuer continues to produce and promote the Monaco as one of its flagship models, preserving the heritage of the iconic chronograph while continuously updating it with design elements to ensure its enduring appeal. The new Monaco Racing Blue edition retains the allure of the original yet looks captivatingly fresh. And contrary to most modern versions, it features the classic crown on the left side, paired with a calibre 11 movement and a titanium case. Before introducing any new Monaco timepiece, it is worth quickly going over the model’s history, if only to remind of its importance, not just to TAG Heuer. The Heuer Monaco was first introduced in March of 1969, with a simultaneous launch in Geneva and New York. It was revolutionary at the time because it was the first square-shaped, waterproof automatic chronograph in watchmaking history. All of the initial Monaco models were powered by the groundbreaking Chronomatic Calibre 11, co-dev
Hands-On - Ulysse Nardin Freak Out (Specs & price)
It all started in the early 1980s with the encounter of Rolf W. Schnyder, a visionary businessman and Ludwig Oeschlin, a brilliant horologist. The two men turned Ulysse Nardin, a century-old manufacturer, into one of the most innovative watch brands around. The most striking development brought to life by the duo is, without a doubt, the Freak (2001). This legendary timepiece was powered by a revolutionary in-line movement pivoting on itself to indicate the time. It was regulated by the cutting-edge dual direct escapement'. With the Freak, Ulysse Nardin not only became a pioneer of silicon (as such it is a true game-changer in the watch industry) but developed a concept like no other regarding design, display and technology.Ulysse Nardin has developed multiple variations of the concept (for example; Freak Phantom,?FreakLab and the 2018 Freak Vision Automatic) but, even after 17 years, the Freak still retains its bold, innovative and radical character. The idea behind the all-new Freak

Fratello x Czapek Antarctique Passage de Drake Viridian Green
Collaboration models between magazines/media and watch manufacturers have become a classic and, more often than not, it can result in pretty cool timepieces with a unique flair. We’ve been there too recently, with our first Montre de Souscription. Our friends and neighbours at Fratello (we’re both based in the Netherlands and both teams know each other for years) have tried this before, twice actually. Their latest offence was a bold and colourful take on the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. Today, the Dutch medium ups its game and presents its third collaboration watch, and it’s not only much more exclusive but also comes from one of our preferred independent watchmakers. Here’s the Fratello x Czapek Antarctique Passage de Drake Viridian Green, and it’ll be available as of tomorrow – July 8th, 6 AM Europe time.?Until now, Fratello has been focussing its two previous collaboration models on relatively accessible watches, being respectively made by Freder
Baselworld 2019 - Oris Clean Ocean Limited Edition (Specs & Price)
Oris continues to ride the bandwagon of environmental conservation and has recently partnered with Pacific Garbage Screening, a pioneering German organisation committed to ridding our oceans of plastic.? To promote the partnership, Oris is releasing a limited edition 39.5mm Aquis Date diver model with an aqua blue dial and a medallion on the caseback made from recycled PET plastic.Collecting trash from the oceanThe UN's environmental arm estimates that 8m tonnes of plastic reach the ocean every year and that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. The problem has really come to the fore when scientists discovered that much of the fish we eat contains toxic chemicals from the microplastics they have consumed. Pacific Garbage Screening has developed an innovative floating platform that will act much like a giant sieve collecting plastic waste from rivers, estuaries and the ocean.
