The SIHH to welcome 9 creative & Independent Manufactures - Monochrome-Watches
Until now, the SIHH, the watch fair held in January, was known to be a very luxurious exhibition that almost exclusively focuses on the Richemont Group brands. The FHH (Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie), host of the SIHH, just decided to change the format, first by bringing a new architectural concept, but mainly by adding to the list of the exhibiting maisons 9 independent watchmakers – and not the worst ones to be honest.Until now, the SIHH or Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, was hosted the Geneva-based watch fair for 16 brands. 12 of them are owned by the Richemont Group – A. Lange & Sohne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Van Cleef & Arpels and Vacheron Constantin (plus Ralph Lauren watches that is operated by Richemont). In addition to?them, 4 other very high-end manufactures were present: Audemars Piguet, Greubel Forsey?(Richemont owns shares),?Parmigiani Fleurier, and Richard Mille.
Hands-On - IWC Pilots Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition "Mojave Desert" IW389103 (Specs & price)
Since 2007, IWC has been producing a special series of watches designed to meet the demanding needs of elite jet pilots. Established as an independent collection within the IWC Pilot's Watch family in 2012, the TOP GUN series has become renowned for its use of hi-tech materials and stealth, military-inspired styling. IWC introduced a total of four new TOP GUN models at SIHH 2019 this year. We've already gotten hands-on with the impressively technical Double Chronograph TOP GUN Ceratanium, as well as the practical Automatic TOP GUN. Now, it's time to turn our attention to the slightly more unusual Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Mojave Desert” (Ref. IW389103).Diehard IWC fans will of course already know all about the TOP GUN collection. Even those who don't are doubtless familiar with the moniker thanks to a popular 1980s movie of the same name starring Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis. Back here in the real world, TOP GUN is the more common name used for the United States Navy St
Introducing The Redesigned Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver Collection
Over the past few years, Maurice Lacroix has been busy promoting its Aikon collection, the brand’s accessibly priced, game-changing luxury sports watch. Yet, Maurice Lacroix has also recently highlighted another important pillar of its collection, the more classic and versatile Pontos line. The brand now revisits its Pontos S Diver, a watch originally released in 2013. The new take on this compressor-style dive watch was released during an event in Dubrovnik in the presence of Lidija Lijic, a world-champion freediver who the brand consulted during the development phase.?The Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver is a modern take on the 1970s compressor-style dive watch with a twist. This type of case was made by Ervin Piquerez SA and featured two crowns; one to wind the movement and set the time (and date, if any) and the other to operate the internal rotating bezel. This unique look was used across many brands, for example, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Longines, Hamilton or Bulova. In this instanc
Hands-On - The Ulysse Nardin Diver X Skeleton Black Carbonium (Price)
Although skeletonised watches and dive watches seem to be poles apart, Ulysse Nardin fuses these unlikely bedfellows by borrowing features from two collections. The result is an eye-catching study in technical skeletonisation with a robust, sporty presence capable of fathoming depths of 200 metres. To celebrate UN's partnership with retailer Seddiqi, visitors to the Dubai Watch Week were given a sneak preview of just ten models of the Ulysse Nardin Diver X Skeleton. However, today marks the official launch of the radically skeletonised dive watch attired in a bold and contemporary combination of materials and colours. ?Proving that skeletonisation and resilience can go hand in hand, the Diver X Skeleton fuses elements from the sporty Diver with the technical prowess of the Blast Skeleton? – a family of watches distinguished by the large X guarding the skeletonised mechanics on most models. The result, which first surfaced in 2021, is the blue and orange Diver X Skeleton reviewed
Industry LVMH Announces Strong Results for Q1 2021
LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company, has just released its results for the first quarter of 2021. At 14 billion euros, sales are up 32% compared to the first quarter of 2021 (+30% on an organic basis). This rebound was to be expected given the favourable comparison with sales from Q1 2020. Still, sales beat consensus estimates and are 8% above the first quarter of 2019, when the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t something we would have even considered. This positive result echoes the rebound of luxury sales driven by China and the USA, while the recovery in Europe is slower; Q1 sales were up 86% in Asia excluding Japan, up 23% for the USA, up 85% for Japan and down 9% for Europe, where lockdowns policies are still in place in some countries. All activities contributed to this performance, with the exception of Selective Retailing, which was still impacted by the restrictions on international travel. For what is our main concern, at 1,883 million euros, the Watches & Jewelry b
