Introducing: The 25th-Anniversary A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Blue Dial
A. Lange & Sohne's most emblematic chronograph, the all-time glorious Datograph, needs little introduction. As it is referred to among collectors, the Dato is considered one of the most iconic chronographs on the market. Turning 25 this year, ALS is celebrating the Datograph's anniversary with a new 125-piece edition in white gold with a blue dial. While covering a new iteration of the Datograph UP/DOWN is always exciting, the focus reverts to the importance this watch enjoys on the chronograph podium.Chronographs are notoriously complex creatures. One of the first brands to emerge with an in-house chronograph after the decimation of the quartz era was A. Lange & Sohne. Following the brand's renaissance in 1994, one of the priorities set out by Gunter Blumlein was to develop a proprietary chronograph movement. Just five years later, Lange released the Datograph calibre L951.1, a refined in-house chronograph that beat other leading brands like Patek Philip
Video Review: The Supremely Elegant Chopard L.U.C 1860 Salmon Dial
Unveiled last year during Watches and Wonders, the Chopard L.U.C 1860 in Lucent Steel with a guilloche salmon dial is a watch that left quite an impression on us. But there’s more to this timepiece than its elegance, its compact dimensions or its combination of materials and colours – salmon over steel is, by far, one of our favourite combos here at MONOCHROME. It’s a watch with historical importance, both mechanically and design-wise, which is why we’ve elected this Chopard L.U.C for our latest video review.?Chopard, and specifically the L.U.C collection (named after the brand's founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard) is known for its handsome, elegant watches with impeccable execution. But more than anything, this collection launched in 1996 has secured the brand a position on the map of high-end watchmaking. With the L.U.C Collection, Chopard became part of the elite of Geneva-based Haute Horlogerie, together with some of the most respected brands of the region. And it
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer BLUE - Hands-On
As the world-leading watch retailer, Bucherer has a solid reputation when it comes to creating special editions available solely through its worldwide network of boutiques and e-commerce platform. With all watches revolving around a central theme, which is the colour blue, the result is often striking, to say the least. The latest introduction is the very contemporary and evocative Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light Bucherer BLUE.This new blue-themed watch is based on the already impressive Girard-Perregaux Laureato Absolute Light?we've covered in January of last year. And with this new L.E. in the ever-expanding Bucherer BLUE collection, the changes to the watch are purely aesthetical. Just as we've seen with other recent introductions like the Longines Spirit or the Carl F. Bucherer Heritage BiCompax Annual, it's all about mixing in a touch of blue in a refined manner. Oris has consolidated a solid reputation for its resilient, purpose-built dive, pilot and sports watches that do the job in style without breaking the bank. For 2023, Oris welcomes attractive new gradient dial colours for its Aquis Small Second Date and Aquis Date Calibre 400.The Oris Aquis collection surfaced in 2011 as an evolution of the brand’s underwater timepieces that first surfaced in 1965. Unlike Oris’s vintage-inspired Sixty Five collection, the Aquis has a far more contemporary vibe making it an attractive option for those in search of a resilient, all-terrain yet stylish watch. Available in a host of case sizes, shared features of all Aquis Date models include a 300m water-resistant case, a screw-down crown, a unidirectional dive bezel (save the diamond-se
Ulysse Nardin Executive Free Wheel 2019 New Models - Introducing, Specs & Price
Ulysse Nardin is not renowned for its low-key, conventional watches. A precursor in the use of silicium (silicon) and fond of extravagant, highly technical – often futuristic – displays, Ulysse Nardin sticks to its guns and revisits its spectacular Executive Free Wheel with new dials made from aventurine, osmium, Carbonium gold and straw marquetry - yes, you heard correctly, straw marquetry! Upside DownThe Executive Tourbillon Free Wheel appeared in 2018. Staging most of the movement's components on the dial UN went one step further to create the illusion of free-floating components. The unorthodox arrangement gives every miniature part a starring role in the spectacle contained under the domed sapphire glass that extends to the sides.
