First Look: The Travis Scott x AP Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked "Cactus Jack"
Collaborations and watches inspired by pop and street culture are, without a doubt, an important part of Audemars Piguet‘s recent history. No other brand on the haute horlogerie scene has fostered such creative synergies with different universes. Sport, pop culture, art, fashion and entertainment… It looks at things from a different perspective, like it or not. This year, Audemars Piguet unveils a new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked limited edition in collaboration with brand and label Cactus Jack, founded by American hip-hop artist Travis Scott. And yes, it is indeed “The Chocolate AP,” as Travis Scott likes to call it in his latest album. Yet another polarizing collaboration with a slightly controversial artist, but one that truly looks spectacular.?AP x CollabsAs most of you might know, this new model isn’t the first time the Swiss watchmaker ventured into the world of music and sport, and specifically hip-hop and basketball culture. Far from th
Hands-on - The new EBEL 1911 Marine (Specs & Price)
Originally launched in 1986 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand, the EBEL 1911 has long been a flagship model of the brand. After re-launching its Sports Classic collection in 2017 (with its signature wave-shaped bracelet), the brand now brings back the emblematic 1911, with several quartz-powered ladies' and gents' watches and an aquatic take on the model featuring a mechanical movement. Here’s our first experience with the new EBEL 1911 Marine.EBEL was founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds - the company was named after the initials of the founder and his wife, Eugene Blum Et Alice Levy. The brand was remarkably successful in the 1970s and 1980s, in particular under the management of the charismatic Pierre Alain Blum. With its chic quartz watches, the company was thriving while the industry was hit by the quartz crisis. These could be spotted on the wrists of celebrities such as Boris Becker, Andre Agassi, Claudia Schiffer or Don Johnson in Miami Vice. EBEL was also ma
Introducing: The Longines Ultra-Chron Carbon, A First For the Brand
Everyone is familiar with Zenith's high-frequency El Primero automatic chronograph movement, released in 1969. However, not everybody is familiar with the world's first high-frequency diver. The laurels, in this case, go to Longines with its 1968 Ultra-Chron ref. 7970 with a 5Hz frequency and a depth rating of 200m. Reintroduced in 2022, the Ultra-Chron returns in 2025 in a carbon fibre case.No stranger to high-frequency calibres, in 1914, Longines produced a 5Hz handheld stopwatch with a split-seconds hand capable of measuring 1/10th of a second. In 1916, it unveiled its 50Hz, 1/100th of a second stopwatch. Ten years before Zenith's El Primero, Longines produced the first wristwatch with a 5Hz movement (calibre 360) to compete in observatory chronometry competitions (it was manual winding). In 1968, Longines introduced its 5Hz calibre 431 inside a diver's watch, converting the Ultra-Chron into the world's first high-frequency diver with an accuracy of one minute per month. If you'd li
Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera NISMO Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Special Edition (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
When you think about racing cars and car-oriented chronographs, you should?have only a restricted amount of watches?in mind. If you think now?about the 24 Hours of Le Mans, you certainly only have one single brand in mind: TAG Heuer – mainly?because of the Heuer Monaco worn by Steve McQueen during the movie Le Mans. For 2015, TAG Heuer partners with the Nissan / Nismo Team and the result of this collaboration is a modified Carrera. Here is the new?TAG Heuer Carrera NISMO Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Special Edition.Even though TAG Heuer is actually in a transitional period with a repositioning strategy (the difficult moments we reported seem to be part of the past now), conducted by its new CEO Jean-Claude Biver and that led to different types of watches, like the vintage-inspired Carrera Calibre 18 Chronograph Telemeter or the very modern Hublot-style Carrera Heuer-01, TAG Heuer’s latest piece of news was?refreshing. In fact, even before?seeing the watch in question, kn

Oris has a long history in the field of pilot’s watches, starting with the Oris Big Crown, introduced in 1938.
