This limited edition automation has a self-winding movement with co-axial escapement. With the power reserve of approximately fifty-five hours, the wristwatch is decorated with a total of thirty-five jewels. The rotating bezel does not interfere with the sturdiness of the dial as it is shielded by sapphire crystal glass. The black dial base houses orange triangles as markers and four Arabic numerals on the inner circle indicating 3, 6, 9, and 12 o' clock.

Breguet 2516 Possibly First Purpose-Built Perpetual Calendar Wristwatch
As we explained yesterday in a more technical/historical article, this year is special, being a leap year. As such, this is the perfect time to talk perpetual calendars, watches specifically designed to take into account this specificity of the Gregorian calendar, when February lasts 29 days instead of its usual 28 days. And today’s perpetual calendar watch is special… Not only because it looks absolutely stunning, but because it is one of the most historically important wristwatches, from one of the most important watchmakers (if not the most important of them all). This is the story of the Breguet no. 2516, possibly the first-ever, purpose-built perpetual calendar wristwatch.A succinct history of the Perpetual CalendarMan’s struggle to create a rational system that accurately reflects Earth's rotations around the Sun and fixed astronomical events led to the creation of a rather complex calendar in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII, later named the Gregorian calendar –
The Petrolhead Corner: The Mercedes-Benz W196R Stromlinienwagen
Mercedes-Benz and racing go hand-in-hand. After all, it’s one of the most successful manufacturers in both pre-war Grand Prix, post-war Formula 1 and Endurance Racing, birthing many legendary cars. From the very early days of motor racing, the brand has been active in all sorts of categories. It won the 1914 French Grand Prix with the Blitzen Benz, it won the Targa Florio in 1922 and 1924, and in 1931 the team was victorious in the Mille Miglia with the SSKL. After World War II, they pretty much took up where they left off, as they entered the newly formed Formula One world championship with the W196 in 1954. The team had immediate success and took home multiple wins and championships, but it was to be short-lived. The 1955 Le Mans crash saw Mercedes-Benz no other option than to withdraw from motorsports entirely, ending the W196’s career. Nevertheless, it became a true racing legend, and one of only four complete W196R Stromlinienwagens is coming up for auction, at an astr
Five high-end mechancial watches fit for travelling and more.
Whether you're frequently travelling business or pleasure, you would like a watch that can keep up with wherever you are heading next. A watch that can indicate time across multiple time zones at once is first and foremost a tool. However, this does not limit you to simple or cheap watches only or dare I say it, your smartphone. On the contrary, there's plenty to choose from in the higher echelons of watchmaking as well, as these 5 complex watches clearly showcase.Moritz Grossmann UniversalzeitThe Universalzeit by Moritz Grossmann is a unique and interesting take on the concept of multiple time zone indications. Using the brand's existing architecture, it devised a clever disc positioned underneath the dial to reveal 6 different additional time zones. Holes in the dial, which is decorated with a depiction of the world, correspond to six cities, each with their own scale on the aforementioned disc. It works rather intuitive as well, as you simply adjust the hour disc to the correct sett
@edthezilla and his F.P. Journe?Tourbillon Souverain calibre 1403 - Monochrome Watches
Instagram is a source of inspiration and it proves to be a superb platform to meet like-minded people. For me, this means an Instagram feed of watches, watches, watches, and… watches. It is also the perfect platform to decide who sees your posts and with whom you want to be in touch, it offers a lot of privacy if you want that too. And getting in touch is easy, peer to peer, and only if both parties are interested in getting in touch. One of the persons I’m in touch with goes by the Instagram name Edthezilla. Now I’m typing his IG name, I realize that I never asked why on Earth he calls himself Edthezilla. Anyways, we discuss watches, both his and mine. He owns quite a collection, comprising some of the most desirable modern and Patek sports watches, some very nice vintage Speedmasters and F.P. Journe. Quite a few Journe’s actually and when I asked him to participate in our Collector’s Series he immediately told me that he wanted to talk about the F.P. J
Armin Strom Tribute 1 California (Specs & Price)
The Armin Strom?Tribute 1 is the indie watchmaker’s contemporary interpretation of a dress watch and appeared in the System 78 collection earlier this year. The Tribute 1 is a refreshing approach to the dress watch with compact proportions, a new, thin in-house calibre, a modern, minimalist look and exceptional hand-finishings. First released in steel with a grey dial in June 2021, two months later, it reappeared with blue and black dials. Today, the brand?releases a series of five renditions, the Armin Strom Tribute 1 California, with alternating Roman and Arabic numerals, colourful fume dials and a black hand-guilloche plate made by Kari Voutilainen.Armin Strom, the watchmaker, was renowned for his impressive, highly intricate hand-skeletonised watches. When he retired in 2006, the brand came into the hands of a duo of childhood friends, master watchmaker Claude Greisler and businessman Serge Michel. By 2009, Armin Strom had a fully integrated manufacture in Biel/Bienne and rel
