The Collector's Series: A Young Collector's IWC Portofino Vintage Collection 5448 in steel - Monochrome Watches
Today we start with a new series, The Collector’s Series, focusing on collectors and their watches. Well, one of their watches for starters. We will be sitting down with some of our readers and find out why they bought a watch, and what triggered them to buy that specific watch. It could be for an important life-event, or just for the fun of it. A collector can have a passion for a specific brand, a specific complication, a specific historical background or a gazillion other reasons to buy that specific timepiece. We’re talking about these questions and also want to know how it is, owning the watch and wearing it frequently. Of course we will do our in-depth reviews, however we’d also love to hear from owners how their experience with a watch actually is. Today we’re talked with Koen about?his?IWC Portofino Vintage Collection 5448 in steel.?What sparked your interest in watches? Ad - Scroll to continue with article

Spotted - Robert Downey JR with a URWERK UR-110 in Spider-Man Homecoming
In the world of watches, it’s become de rigeur?to have watches “placed” in movies (and?sometimes, it’s a bit more than just that). It’s a practice known as?“product placement” and, in certain measures, it seems to help selling watches (do you feel the irony here…?) However, the story here is much cooler than the usual “watch in a movie” commercial tie-up, and has been dictated by passion, involving?with one of the coolest watches around. So, what could well be the watch worn by?Iron Man / Tony Stark a.k.a Robert Downey Jr in upcoming movie?Spider-Man Homecoming? And why this choice?Recently, in a post on his own Instagram account,?Robert Downey JR showed himself wearing no less than a URWERK UR-110 Torpedo in Rose Gold, while attending the world-premiere of Spider-Man Homecoming. Even cooler, he posted another image with Yacine Sar, the independent watchmaker’s Head of Communication. So, what to think of that…? The
Montblanc Star Roman Carpe Diem Special Editions (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
The Montblanc Star collection is certainly not widely coveted, at least less than the recent creations, like the Heritage Chronometrie collection or the high-end Villeret creations. In fact, this collection is older than its siblings but it’s not void of interest. It’s even a interesting choice for those looking for a?traditional and classical design, with an elegance suitable for an everyday use. In order to bring this collection back under the spotlights,?Montblanc presents three new?models in the Montblanc Star Collection ¡ª the Montblanc Star Roman Quantieme Complet Carpe Diem Special Edition, the Montblanc Star Roman Chronograph UTC Automatic Carpe Diem Special Edition and the Montblanc Star Roman Carpe Diem Small Second Special Edition. The Montblanc Star Roman Collection is defined by its classical design and simple but reliable automatic movements. Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 41.5mm Bi-Colour (Specs, Price)
Oris introduced the in-house calibre 400 automatic in late 2020 that replaced Sellita counterparts in higher-end models and joined the in-house, hand-wound calibre 110 from 2014 (and subsequent variants). Major improvements like an anti-magnetic escapement and five-day power reserve overshadowed the always reliable Sellitas, but prices remained (relatively) accessible for the updated Aquis Date models. The latest Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 duo come with 41.5mm cases and 18k gold bezel edges, and the latter adds some panache to the already stylish series. You also have the choice of two dial colours and either an integrated bracelet or rubber strap, so there's a nice variety on tap as well.? The new collection matches the aesthetic of last year's introduction of the 41.5mm Aquis Date Calibre 400, but gold accents really dress things up. As mentioned, the unidirectional rotating bezel has an 18k gold finish on the outer edge, while the detailed 60-minute diver's s
