Introducing The 2021 Omega Constellation Small Seconds Collection
Omega unveils new models in its Constellation family with a small seconds sub-dial, captivating dial colours and diamonds, a new 34mm case size, and, more importantly, all powered by the brand’s superior Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibre. The hallmark claws and half-moon facets that have distinguished the Constellation since 1982 are immediately recognisable, as are the bezels engraved with classic Roman numerals or the brilliant light of 38 diamonds.BackgroundOmega's Constellation started life as a men's chronometer in 1952. By 1982, the Constellation had expanded to include women's watches. Designed by Carol Didisheim and known as the Constellation Manhattan family, one of the distinctive features of the new collection was the four screwed “griffes” or claws extending from the case over the dial. An arresting visual effect, the claws also held the sapphire crystal and gasket firmly against the case to ensure water-resistance. Another feature was the scalloped half
Baselworld 2019 - Patek Philippe Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A (Specs & Price)
This is it, the list of new watches at Patek Philippe has been revealed for the 2019 Collection. While we’ve already seen the introduction of a new regulator in rose gold, there are several interesting watches, including this brand new Calatrava – design-wise, material-wise and complication-wise. Meet the Patek Philippe Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A, a surprising, retro-styled and quite attractive new model (to say the least). While the most interesting feature to be discussed on this watch will certainly be its unprecedented display and novel complication (at least for Patek), the main topic of discussion will be about the design (a bit) and the material (a bit more). This new reference 5212A is indeed clearly vintage-inspired but also introduces steel in the classic, elegant Calatrava collection – and we know that besides the Nautilus and the Aquanaut, Patek isn’t so prone to crafting watches in stainless steel. Except for the target used to actuate the minute repeater mechanism on the left side of the case,?the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater Calibre 1731 is simply traditional and classical, making it impossible to imagine the superb movement
The Petrolhead Corner: A Pair Of Exquisite Jaguar Cars
Jaguar is one of the great British car manufacturers, perhaps only rivalled by Aston Martin when it comes to style, class, and heritage. It started out as the Swallow Sidecar Company in 1922, making motorcycle sidecars before moving into the production of cars in the mid-1930s, with the first-ever car being the SS Jaguar 2.5L Saloon. For obvious reasons, the SS name wouldn’t stick for long, as immediately after WWII, the company’s name was changed to Jaguar. The brand has a very rich history both on the road and in racing, winning Le Mans no less than seven times, for instance. Many cars can be called iconic, and just recently, two of those made headlines in the automotive industry!?The contrast couldn’t be bigger between the two, as on one end, we have a pure handcrafted beauty in the Jaguar Classic E-Type Commemoratives, and on the other, we have a concept-car-turned-stunt-car-turned-road-car in the Callum Designs C-X75. The story of the latter is rather unexpected,
