SIHH vs. Baselworld - Monochrome Watches
One of the things that really amazed me this year was the lack of pre-releases before the Salon International de Haute Horlogerie (SIHH). Now the SIHH 2010 is almost finished, the pre-releases for Baselworld are already here! The only serieous SIHH pre-release?came from?Lange und Sohne. In December i already posted the?new Lange 1 Daymatic, which?instantly became my favorite Lange 1 and probably?my?favorite from this great manufacterer from Germany. After the SIHH started earlier this week, press releases about new models?all come at the same time. It’s impossible to cover them all, so i’ll show a few of my favorite models. One is another novelty of Lange und Sohne that is just so good i have to show it. For all new Lange und Sohne models, check out Perptuelle.com‘s overview.Last year A. Lange & Sohne’s Zeitwerk was one of the biggest hits of the SIHH novelties. This year Lange und Sohne comes with another surprise, the Zeitwerk Luminous. Or as the people at
Buying Guide: Six Captivatingly Cool Perpetual Calendar Watches
Often capturing the minds and hearts of collectors with their complex mechanism, perpetual calendars are amongst the most laureled complications around. In many cases, the array of calendar indications is displayed in a rather classical style. But not with these ones, as we take a look at some of the coolest QP watches in recent times. Laurent Ferrier Galet Square in stainless steel - Hands-on with live photos & price - Monochrome-Watches
During Baselworld, and afterwards, we heard people call the new Laurent Ferrier Galet Square, a “dress Panerai.” How dare they?! Are we calling every sports watch with a rectangular case a sporty Cartier Tank? Are we nicknaming every square watch a Bell & Ross replica? No. So please, it’s not because a watch is coming with a cushion-shaped case that you can call it a Panerai. No offense toward the Officine but this new Laurent Ferrier Galet Square is not playing in the same league. Even if it comes with a stainless steel case (a first for the brand except a few limited / unique editions), it’s pure delicacy and elegance. Here are our thoughts.?Laurent Ferrier is not a new-comer in the watchmaking industry;?the?brand celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. However, before launching its own watches, Laurent Ferrier became creative director at Patek Philippe in 1974.
