First Look: The new Grand Seiko Spring Drive UFA SLGB001 & SLGB003 (With Finally a Micro-Adjustment Clasp)
When talking about vintage Grand Seiko watches, some references or acronyms have a lot of meaning. For instance, 44GS refers to one of the most important models ever, the watch that initiated the Grammar of Design and the shape of all subsequent creations. The acronym VFA also has its importance. Standing for Very Fine Adjusted and first used in 1969, this designation defined a Grand Seiko watch that was adjusted so skillfully that it achieved an astonishing monthly rate of 1 minute. Now, Grand Seiko has turned part of its production to the Spring Drive technology, a hybrid system known for its great accuracy. This year, with the Evolution 9 Spring Drive SLGB001 & SLGB003, a new acronym is introduced: UFA, standing for Ultra Fine Accuracy and announcing a new generation movement, Calibre 9RB2. But that’s not all, as this duo of compact and handsome watches also comes with the long-anticipated micro-adjustment folding clasp.?The handsome Evolution 9 SLGB001 & SLGB003Before
The History of the Omega Constellation Collection - In-Depth
The Constellation family has been around for 66 years and is currently one of Omega's oldest collections. What started out as a chronometer for men in 1952 has undergone countless aesthetic transformations, from the pie-pan dials of the 1950s to the ultra-thin quartz watches of the 1970s leading to the consolidation of the collection in 1982 with the Constellation Manhattan and its hallmark claws. Today many Constellation models are equipped with Master Chronometer movements respecting the original vocation of this family to combine luxury and precision. Let's take a look at how the Constellation got its star power and its claws.Born as a chronometer in 1952To celebrate its 100th anniversary in 1948, Omega released the Centenary, its first limited-edition chronometer-certified wristwatch with an automatic movement. Given the positive reaction to this unrivalled combination of precision and practicality, Omega decided the time was ripe for a collection of automatic wristwatches with chr
Introducing: The Piaget Polo Chronograph Emerald Green Panda
A highly important model within the brand’s collection, the Piaget Polo was born in 1979 as a vision of a luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet. Its distinctive design, which was re-edited in an opulent, faithful full gold model earlier this year (in the frame of the brand’s 150th-anniversary celebrations), the Piaget Polo is better known in its current shape, the result of a complete redesign process initiated in 2016. Following several editions in a signature emerald green colour, including the Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin and the time-and-date Polo Field, it is time for the sporty-chic chronograph to receive the green treatment with this panda edition.?This new green panda-style chronograph belongs to the modern face of the Piaget Polo, based on the 2016 collection that generated its fair share of debate. While the Polo was originally a striking gold model characterized by its shaped case, flowing bracelet and signature horizontal gadroons (which certainl
Richemont Group 2018-2019 Results - Solid Growth Boosted by Acquisitions - Monochrome Watches
Richemont just announced its audited consolidated results for the fiscal year ended 31st March 2019. At EUR 13.989 million, the luxury conglomerate sales increased by 27% at actual and constant exchange rates. The operating profit grew by 5% to EUR 1.943 million. Profit for the year rose to EUR 2.787 million including a post-tax non-cash gain of EUR 1.378 million on the revaluation of YNAP shares held prior to tender offer. This strong growth is boosted by the acquisitions reflecting Richemont's efforts to build direct online sales channels. Online Fashion and luxury retailer YOOX NET-A-PORTER and second-hand watch dealer Watchfinder have been consolidated as of May and June 2018. If the impact of these e-commerce acquisitions is stripped out, the group sales rose by 8%. Richemont reports that sales increased over all business areas and most regions. Performance was especially good in Asia Pacific (+14%) and the Americas (+11%) with double-digit progression. Sales rose 8% in Japan and
Hublot Big Bang Integral 42mm Integrated Bracelet // Introducing, Price
It is hard to overlook the current trend for sports watches with integrated bracelets… They are simply all over the place and in all price segments. Hublot, one of the main participants in the robust luxury sports watch, has been aware of this and already had such an option in its Classic Fusion watch. But, surprisingly, the Big Bang, the sportier, bolder version (a competitor to the RO Offshore) has never been offered on a bracelet… until now. Meet the new Hublot Big Bang Integral collection. While the Classic Fusion could be seen as an alternative to the thin and relatively restrained watches in the luxury sports watch category, the other main collection of Hublot, the Big Bang, is a more robust, even more contrasted version with a larger case, more combinations of materials, more angles, more skeletonization… More of everything, if you like. And while integrated metallic bracelets are everywhere these days, Hublot has been surprisingly quiet in this field. At least
