SIHH 2015 - Baume & Mercier Classima - Hands-On with live photos, specs and price - Monochrome-Watches
Baume & Mercier is known for its simple, elegant and?interesting offer. Especially made to be gifted – to celebrate a graduation, a success or any nice event of a life – they are perfect daily watches for those who just want a reliable and pleasant companion. One of the collections is truly inspired by this concept. It’s called the Baume & Mercier Classima and for the SIHH 2015, it receives?a interesting?update.?Compared to the rest of the brand owned by the Richemont Group (that also holds Lange & Sohne, Jaeger-Lecoultre or IWC), Baume & Mercier could?be seen mainly as the entry-level brand. For sure, if you look at the rest of the Richemont portfolio, B&M is far from the crowd of ultra-complicated and highly-priced watches. However, Baume & Mercier should not be relegated to a low-end status. It offers the opportunity to enter the world of classic, timeless and elegant watches for a reasonable price and answers to a demand of timepieces made
2020 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 44mm
A watch introduced in 1992 and that, back then, was met with extreme reactions with its unprecedented approach to luxury watchmaking, the Royal Oak Offshore has since been Audemars Piguet sportiest, most masculine piece – a far more robust version of the octagonal iconic model launched in 1972. From the earliest days, this watch played on contrasts and materials and it still does in 2020, as we can see with three new models of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 44mm, with bold, accented cases and new smoked dials with Arabic numerals.Following this collection’s tradition, these 2020 Royal Oak Offshore are ultra-bold, robust watches that will not fail to leave an impression. All three watches share the same base, meaning a 44mm case in brushed black ceramic with polished accents. All three models feature a sapphire crystal on top, a titanium caseback with see-through sapphire and a lateral module that protects the crown and integrates the chronogr
SIHH 2018 - Fran?ois-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet, On The New Collection
As we told you in our previous video, our main focus this year for SIHH 2018 will be videos. This is the best way to show you what is about to be launched and what the watches actually look like in the metal. Nothing works better than images and words, and to officially kick off our SIHH series of videos, we have?Fran?ois-Henry Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet, talking us through the brand new collection. This year, Audemars Piguet is certainly presenting one of its most complete collections ever. It is huge. The main focus of this year is, as we told you in our hands-on articles, is the 25th anniversary of the Offshore collection, which was launched in 1993 as a brand new concept, a bold and highly masculine luxury sports watch. The two main models we already showed you: the re-edtition of the very first model and a true bold concept, with a redefined tourbillon chronograph movement and a new case architecture. That’s not all, as?Audemars Piguet has a superb concept watch, the R
Ollech & Wajs OW Ocean Graph - Dive Watch Review (Specs & Price)
In 2019, a very niche but still revered brand, specialized in instrument watches, made its comeback. This brand is Ollech & Wajs, a brand born in 1956, which gained quite some popularity amongst professionals. It took some years to convince Albert Wajs to pass on his brand, but?Ollech & Wajs was back in action, with a collection of accessible tool watches – the brand’s speciality for years. Following models such as the C-1000 Caribbean or the P-101 for pilots, the brand has recently introduced a new, and appealing, dive watch, the OW Ocean Graph. And we take a closer look at it today.BackgroundOllech & Wajs is typically the kind of name that might not ring a bell to a broader audience, but that is still well-known and highly respected in some collectors' communities. A case-in-point niche brand that has devoted its production to instrument models, now all relatively collectable. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition - Diving Chronograph Review, Price
Forget about the usual suspects that are , Omega, Blancpain or Seiko. The world of dive watches is full of surprises, of smaller brands that are to be considered hidden gems… And when you start to dig into the archives of the dive watch history and forget about mainstream models, there are some fascinating vintage watches to discover. Such an example is the Aquastar Deepstar, a watch that I rediscovered when publishing a vintage column. The kind of watch you secretly wish to see coming back. And earlier this year, it did make its return. Having covered the launch of the 2020 Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition, I wanted to experience it in the metal. So, diving suit on, scuba tank charged, let’s look at it.?Aquastar…?As said, the dive watch industry in the 1960s was pro-li-fic. While a wider audience will have in mind the classics – Submariner, Seamaster, Fifty Fathoms – there were countless smaller brands building dive watches, assembling parts from suppliers t
