Review of the Extra-Flat Richard Mille RM 033 Boutique Edition (Titanium & Rose Gold) - Live photos & price - Monochrome-Watches
When the name Richard Mille comes into the game, large?tonneau shaped watches come to mind, with a sporty feeling and highly technical content. Not the usual ingredients for a dress-watch. Of course, some editions are less “hardcore” than the others, like for instance the RM 022 Aerodyne (a smaller, less rugged but still highly complicated watch) or the classical RM 029. However, the watch we’re about to review breaks all these codes. It’s round, it’s slim, it’s supposed to be the ‘elegant and dressy’ proposition of the brand. However, surprisingly, it remains recognizable as a Richard Mille all the way round. Let’s have a closer look at the?Extra-Flat Richard Mille RM 033 Boutique Edition (Titanium & Rose Gold).Overall appearanceThe Richard Mille RM 033 is in every aspect?a RM watch but at the same time everything except?a RM watch. All of the actual attributes of a Richard Mille watch are absent here but at the same time, you
Vacheron-Constantin Harmony Chronograph Calibre 3300 - hands-on review and thoughts about the new movement (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
Recently, we’ve been impressed by Vacheron-Constantin. Not that the Geneva-based manufacture is not used to create interesting watches (really, we’re far from that), but the latest collection that they showed during SIHH 2015 was both visually and technically stunning. We first felt that only by only seeing the press photos of the entire collection (that you can see here) but?later much more so, when having the flagship edition on the wrist, the Harmony?Ultra-Thin Grande Complication Chronograph Caliber 3500. It’s time now to have a closer look at the watch?that is possibly the best compromise, the?Vacheron-Constantin Harmony Chronograph Calibre 3300.BackgroundIt’s not often that an old Maison like Vacheron-Constantin launches an entirely new collection of watches. Until the 2015 Edition of the SIHH, Vacheron-Constantin was used to improve its classical collections with new editions (like the sporty Overseas or the elegant Patrimony) or with specific limited edi
The Wickedly Cool Hand-Made Cars By Jonathan Ward And His ICON Crew
What would your initial thought be if you uncovered a run-down Oldsmobile, or a Hudson, in a dusty old barn? Would you think “piece of junk” or “diamond in the rough”? Would you see potential or just a bottomless money pit? If you have the right mind- and skillset, any derelict car can be turned around into a running and driving machine. And if you?really know what you are doing, you can even turn this into a proper business. Such is the case for ICON, the LA-based workshop founded and run by Jonathan Ward. For more than 20 years, Jonathan and his wife Jamie have been churning out some of the wildest creations based on derelict cars from Toyota, Hudson, Oldsmobile, Ford and others.?Icon four-by-fourThe whole idea of ICON originates from Jonathan Ward’s mind, following the direction the car-collecting business was heading into in the late 1990s. With soaring demands, rising prices and new styles emerging, Jonathan not only took note but took action as well.
First Look: TAG Heuer Refreshes its Carrera Day-Date and Carrera Twin-Time Models
Jack Heuer's Carrera chronograph is the stuff of legends. Released in 1963 and named after the dangerous Carrera Panamericana, the Carrera is still TAG Heuer's flagship model. The current Carrera collection has eight sub-families, including the recently introduced Date family, home to the Day-Date and Twin-Time models. Released just four years ago, the Day-Date and Twin-Time GMT models have been upgraded with several aesthetic tweaks and a more powerful movement. While many consider a Carrera without chronograph functions a form of disloyalty, there have been Carreras with three hands in the 1990s and even a Twin-Time GMT model from the 1950s. The Day-Date and Twin-Time Models capture their ancestors’ clean, spartan, legible style but stick to practical day-date and GMT functions. Stephane Bianchi, TAG Heuer's CEO, on the 50th Anniversary of the Monaco - Monochrome Watches
During the F1 Grand Prix in Monaco, last weekend, we sat down with TAG Heuer's CEO, Stephane Bianchi, to talk about the 50th anniversary of an icon, the TAG Heuer Monaco. I think we’d all agree that the word iconic' is often misused in the world of horology, however, in this case, I think it's appropriate to designate the Monaco as ‘iconic’. Stephane Bianchi tells us more about the Monaco and how TAG Heuer is celebrating the 50th anniversary of this legendary and highly recognizable timepiece. In 1969 the Heuer Monaco saw the light of day. Underneath its unusual case was the first automatic chronograph movement (although Zenith and Seiko also have a claim to producing the first automatic chronograph). The Heuer Monaco has rubbed shoulders wrists with some of the most legendary race drivers and movie stars and can be recognized form miles away thanks to its unique square shape. Both factors have contributed to its lasting popularity and especially the fact that the King
