Somehow a new format for us, we’ve invited our founder, Frank Geelen, and one of our editors, Robin Nooy, to speak their minds. Highlights, most discussed new releases, watches we’d like to buy for ourselves, trends of the year, winners and losers, but also pragmatic topics such as the continuous rise of prices or the comeback of smaller watches. Check our recap of Watches and Wonders in the video on top of this article.?What to expect in this video:00:05 – Introduction Ad - Scroll to continue with article 00:45 – The biggest takeaways of the fair, by Robin01:30 – Frank's thoughts about the fair and the gene
RGM Watch Co. Classic Enamel PS-801-CE (Specs & Price)
When you think of great American watch companies, brands like Hamilton and Waltham come to mind. Neither of those are American anymore, with Hamilton ending US production in 1969 after being acquired by the Buren Watch Company in Buren an der Aare, Switzerland. Hamilton ultimately became part of the Swatch Group and remains a popular brand today. Waltham is a bit fragmented, but now principally Waltham International SA, manufacturing luxury Swiss Made watches with the company's majority owner ironically being an American, Antonio DiBenedetto. Decades ago, both companies manufactured cases and movements, but sadly there are no longer American companies that aren't importing movements and parts. Well, except for one, which we'll review today: RGM Watch Co.RGM Watch Company, founded in 1992 by American watchmaker Roland G. Murphy, is the only American brand that still manufactures cases, dials and movements in-house. You've probably heard of American brands like Shinola or MVMT (and a lar

Video Review: The FPJ Tourbillon Souverain Vertical is One of the Few Relevant Tourbillon Wristwatches
If you’re reading this article and MONOCHROME on a regular basis, you should certainly all about the tourbillon, this device where the regulating organ is placed in a constantly rotating cage, counteracting the negative effect of gravity. But we have to keep in mind that the tourbillon, conceived and patented by Breguet in 1801, was designed for pocket watches, timekeepers spending most of their time vertically in a pocket. But what about tourbillon in wristwatches? Well, it is well known that their relevance remains to be demonstrated, mostly because of how a wristwatch is worn – most of the time in a horizontal position. Enter Fran?ois-Paul Journe and the Tourbillon Souverain Vertical. And this watch, besides being an absolute mechanical feast, also brings a lot of sense to the tourbillon in a wristwatch. Check our video review to know more!Gravity affects everything. That’s the law of physics. And, as such, it does affect the regulating organ of a watch, mostly the

Like all Overseas models, the watches are fitted with Vacheron's ingenious patented interchangeable strap device and come with an integrated white gold bracelet and two additional straps for maximum versatility.?BackgroundThe Overseas is an evolution of Vacheron's sporty reference 222 of 1977. Designed by Jorg Hysek and coinciding with the brand's 222nd anniversary, the 222 was Vacheron's interpretation of the luxury sports watch. Following an extensive revamp in 2016, the Overseas is now in its third phase of life – you can read all about its evolution in Part 1 & Part 2 of our video coverage. The current line-up of Overseas watches features (
