Oris comes up with impressive and handy timepieces every time. The new Aquis Date GMT 74877487154MB is one of the most attractive watches out there. The black dial has a very powerful appearance, which is complemented by the jet black bezel. The yellow marker and GMT on the black surface make for a quite cool contrast. The jeweled bezel and sleek hands go well with the black theme. The grey band of this timepiece has the classic Oris feel to it.

A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon (hands-on, live photos & price) - Monochrome Watches
We all know the Datograph, THE most iconic chronograph?of?A. Lange & Sohne – and clearly, one of the most desirable chronographs of the actual production (if not one?most desirable watches?of the actual production). We also know the more complicated edition, the Datograph Perpetual, that the brand renewed last year, with its stunning grey dial and a QP. For the 2016 edition of the SIHH, it’s a pure horological marvel that the Saxonian manufacture will reveal, as not only you’ll find the hyper-nice chronograph movement, with the extra-perpetual calendar AND now with a tourbillon, discreetly located on the movement side. Here is the uber-Datograph, you name it: the?A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. This new?A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon combines the best of Lange in a single watch: a Datograph with a perpetual calendar and a Tourbillon regulator that is, in order to respect the purity of the dial, located on the movement side
The Collector's Series: Up Close and Personal with the URWERK UR-103
Readers of The Collector's Series and the Collector's Corner know that I sometimes contribute to the column - writing articles for the series is just one more way for me to get excited about vintage watches. I read a little about a specific watch, go deeper down the rabbit hole, and before I know it, I'm looking for listings on Chrono24. Sometimes, I write weird, off-kilter posts like that time in October 2022 when I visited Ond?ej Berkus' atelier (and also a couple of weeks ago) and spent the day talking about watches and life with him. For this artistic freedom, I thank the team at MONOCHROME! This piece falls in that same vein. Call it my way of becoming better acquainted with a piece I own; call it the ramblings of someone who has now well and truly lost all his marbles. In any case, I hope you enjoy the ride. Because the story of this Urwerk UR-103 is quite a complex one.Editor’s Note: @aaaaaaaaaarian should be credited for some of the photos found in this article (images wi
Found - A Rare Habring2 Monopusher Chronograph Japan Edition
If you’re a recurring reader of MONOCHROME, you should very well be aware that we, as a team, have a thing for chronographs, and specifically, vintage-inspired chronographs manufactured by?husband-and-wife duo Richard and Maria Habring. After all, this was the inspiration behind our very first Montre de Souscription, a sector dial monopusher with salmon colour… And since we’re definitely biased, there’s another watch that always resonates very loud at the redaction room, a rare and absolutely stunning model made exclusively for Habring2 long-term Japan retailer Shellman, the Monopusher with Breguet numerals and snail-shaped scales. We’ve already featured a black example on MONO and today, it’s a silver edition that makes it to the magazine. To us, typically a watch you should look at closely, and maybe add to your collection.?Habring2 is the kind of brand/watchmaker we love at MONOCHROME. Based in the small town of Volkermarkt, Austria (already somet
Review Tudor Black Bay Pro GMT 79470 (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
Since the introduction of two important watches within the Tudor collection, namely the Black Bay GMT and the Black Bay Fifty-Eight, the watch community has been asking for a mix of the two concepts. Basically, a Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight GMT. Tudor responded but decided to spice things up a little bit. And the result is this watch, the Tudor Black Bay Pro. Yes, it’s 39mm like the BB58. And yes, it has a GMT function, like the BB Pepsi. But no, it’s not just a simple blend of these two. The BB Pro is fairly different, pretty cool and very much a tool watch that can do it all. And, at least to me, it really is one of the best instrument watches I’ve seen this year. But being a fan of the Explorer II (older models, of course, not the huge modern versions), this watch somehow speaks to me. Even though we’ll see, it isn’t perfect either.?If I had to sum it up, the new Tudor Black Bay Pro is the perfect adventure watch. It’s robust and legible; it featu
REVIEW: Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar - User Report with Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
The new Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar was introduced earlier this year at Baselworld, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the brand’s?Marine collection. Inside ticks the newly developed calibre UN-153, which actually is the in 2014 introduced Ulysse Nardin in-house chronograph calibre UN-150, with an additional annual calendar mechanism. This is definitely not yet another annual calendar watch; it is a small miracle, both technical as well as price-wise!?Patrik Hoffman, the brand’s CEO, talked about it in the interview that we did during Baselworld, and in the past weeks we had the privilege to wear and test the watch. Here’s our take on the new Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar in stainless steel.?Ulysse Nardin – some background informationThe company was founded by Ulysse Nardin in 1846 after learning the trade from his father, Leonard-Frederic Nardin, and from Frederic William Dubois and Louis JeanRichard-dit-Bressel, two ma
