Recap: MONOCHROME's Top Ten Novelties From Watches & Wonders 2023
It was impossible to miss the sleuth of new watches presented during last week’s Watches & Wonders fair. The 2023 edition of what is now the biggest watch-related event of the year saw many new and very exciting new watches being presented. We tried to bring you as much as possible already, but there is still much more to come that we haven’t been able to cover yet. But what are the absolute best watches? This is a tough question to ask, with over 50 brands on display, all bringing new models or adaptations of existing ones to the table. The MONOCHROME Editorial Team has taken a vote though, to pinpoint what we think are the Top Ten novelties presented in the confines of Geneva’s Palexpo halls last week, and here’s the rundown, in completely random order.IWC Ingenieur AUTOMATIC 40We’re not going to talk about the elephant in the room (the price) but rather embrace the fact the legendary Gerald Genta-designed?IWC Ingenieur finally makes a return! A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Tourbillon 'Pour le Merite' White gold (live photos, specs and price) - Monochrome-Watches
The Richard Lange Collection by A. Lange & Sohne represents some of the most complicated watches from the brand. Well, you’ll say the rest of the collection is quite far from being simple, considering the Langematik Perpetual?we just introduced to you or the Datograph Up/Down we recently?reviewed. But when you add the words ‘Pour le Merite’ to the equation, you have quite an explosive cocktail. Here is the?A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Tourbillon ‘Pour le Merite’, now in 18k white gold – and yes, it means a Tourbillon AND a fuse/chain in the same watch.Aesthetically speaking, the Richard Lange?Tourbillon ‘Pour le Merite’ comes with the same regulator style dial that can be found in the impressive 2014?Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna, meaning a large minute sub-dial at 12, a small second sub-counter (with an aperture for the one-minute tourbillon) at 7 and a surprising hour counter at 4, with a patented segment that hid
Patek Philippe Grande et Petite Sonnerie 6301P
Chiming watches are some of the most desirable marvels that watchmaking has ever produced. They can assume multiple forms, such as alarm watches or minute repeaters. But when it comes to watches that strike the time, that “musically indicate” the time, the rarest, most exclusive, most impressive and most desirable is the grande sonnerie. Only a handful of watchmakers are capable of manufacturing such a complication, which strikes the time “au passage” and not on demand. Today, Patek Philippe presents a new model, deceptively simple yet utterly complex. Meet the Grande et Petite Sonnerie 6301P.Background, Repeating & Grande Sonnerie Watches at PatekThe grande sonnerie and petite sonnerie hold a special place in the world of Haute Horlogerie. There is only a handful of watchmakers capable of manufacturing such works of arts, often regarded as the ultimate horological complication. Both the grande and petite sonnerie strike the hours and quarters in passing, th

Pre-SIHH 2014: Introducing the Montblanc TimeWalker Extreme Chronograph DLC - Monochrome Watches
Ten years ago, in 2004, Montblanc introduced the very first timepieces of the new TimeWalker ‘family’ of watches. Immediately recognizable, with its 43mm large case, the beautifully shaped lugs, its thin bezel and the and large and clean dial, the characteristic Arabic numerals and the lancet-shaped hands. Montblanc celebrates the 10th anniversary with a pitch-black new member of TimeWalker family, the TimeWalker Extreme Chronograph DLC.What might seem like the “black sheep” of the family is actually a very well respected family member, as it features all of the above design and style elements of the TimeWalker collection. The TimeWalker Extreme Chrono DLC adds to that a the blackest DLC coating possible, named “Black 4”, and a super strong strap from Montblanc’s own leather department. The strapThe strap’s inside is made of black Vulcarbone? cautchouc (some sort of treated rubber), which gives the wristband extreme strength and flexibilit
