Baselworld 2019 - Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator 5235R Rose Gold (Specs & Price)
While the Calatrava collection mostly comprises simple, 3-hand watches (automatic or not, with or without date), it barely features complications… Except that one watch that is so unique in the collection, first because of its display and unique combination of complications, but also because of its movement itself (at least, back when it was introduced). As a preview to what will come at Baselworld 2019, meet the new rose gold version of the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator, reference 5235R.The regulator is one of the most traditional displays the watchmaking industry can produce. It wasn’t, however, intended for the wrist. The regulator display was used on master-clocks in workshops so watchmakers could adjust the timepieces they were working on, by relying on a highly precise clock with a specific way to indicate the time; watches were regulated on a 1-hour base, which is the reason why the main hand on a regulator is the minutes hand, and why the hours and second
Hands-On with the very Monochrome Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black - Monochrome Watches
Monochrome and exposing intricate mechanics definitely sounds like something we love here, at Monochrome-Watches! Living up to the promise and presented at Baselworld 2016, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire All Black features a smoked transparent case crafted out of sapphire, based on the already introduced clear version. Time to go hands-on with a time-stopper not to be left in the dark.Light and ShadowsWhen Hublot presented the Big Bang in 2005, innovation in materials was the central idea. Its sandwiched' case construction was designed to work with different metals or composites, and was the platform to build exploration expertise in innovative materials: scratchproof gold (the Magic Gold, Hublot's own alloy, a porous ceramic filled with 24k gold), hi-tech ceramics, magnesium or carbon fiber to name a few - and even some high-end Berluti leather. Interview - Young Canadian Independent Watchmaker Bradley Taylor
Earlier this year, we shared a story on a young Canadian watchmaker by the name of Bradley Taylor and the result of his first solo project, the Paragon. Selling out all of the 12 pieces in about two months can be considered quite an achievement by a start-up brand. Reason for us to sit down with Bradley Taylor once more and talk about what it took to create this watch, what the philosophy behind it is, how Canadian' the watch is and his consideration of doing something in-house or not.?The Paragon is the first-ever watch created under his own name, but Bradley Taylor has experience with building a brand and creating a watch design from the ground up before. We briefly touched upon the subject in our previous coverage, but joining forces with a fellow-Canadian classmate during his education in Le Locle, Switzerland, he started out as the Taylor' in Birchall & Taylor. Based out of Toronto, Charles Birchall and himself set out to create a luxury watch brand, basically the first of its
Introducing Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon in Blue and Gold
Two years ago, Ulysse Nardin unveiled a series of supercharged Blast models fusing design cues from the Skeleton Tourbillon and the Skeleton X. Exposing every last mechanical detail of the skeletonised flying tourbillon movement, the distinctive feature of this family is the powerful double X traversing both sides of the dial. The Ulysse Nardin Blast Tourbillon stages its return in a two-tone rose gold and blue PVD titanium case with matching-coloured accents to highlight the mechanical spectacle.Stealth aircraftThe sharp, edgy architecture of the 45mm Blast case is designed to emulate the flat planes of stealth aircraft carefully oriented to avoid radar detection. Although it has already appeared in rose gold with a black ceramic bezel, this model combines 18k rose gold with a central case and bezel in blue PVD titanium. The central blue PVD titanium case is sandblasted, while the rose gold upper case is dynamically decorated with polished and brushed finishings. Ad - Scrol
SIHH 2016: Introducing the Montblanc 4810 Chronograph - Live photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
Montblanc has been coming with an extremely strong offering, this year again, and during the fair they literary are the talk of the ‘town’. The high-end complication, like the ExoTourbillon Slim and the limited editions with hand-painted dials, the Tourbillon Cylindrique Pocket Watch 110 Years and the 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter?are awe-inspiring. At the same time, the ExoTourbillon and the 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter are priced rather competitively and that’s also how Montblanc sets itself apart from the crowd. Today we’re going to look at a friendly priced chronograph of the newly revamped 4810 collection, the Montblanc 4810 Chronograph.?One of the distinct features of the 4810 collection has always been the impressive guilloche dials that feature the ‘exploding Montblanc star motif’,?as the brand calls it, and big applied Roman numerals. This year the 4810 collection has been revamped, and the cases have been redesigned, and are slightly smaller a
