Tudor has gained an incredible level of popularity over the past few years, becoming one of the coolest players in the watch game. Hands-on: The New Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver Is Dressed To Impress
In traditional connotation, the dress watch is what you wear to an evening event, supposedly dressed to fit the occasion, in a suit or even a tuxedo. But what if your evening is about going out to bars, restaurants, and seaside clubs, where short sleeves and sandals are more welcome? You put on a watch that fits right in, a dress diver if you will, and the new editions of the Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Diver should be one of the few stylish choices to consider.Maurice Lacroix launched the Pontos S Diver series in 2013, the company recently revealed a new 2023 model which we introduced to you a couple of weeks ago. The updated release concerns three models with 300m water resistance, two in stainless steel and one limited edition of 500 pieces in bronze. All three come in compressor-style cases of 42 mm in diameter, with twin crowns and an inner rotating bezel. This dive watch design certainly stood the test of time, but as it’s always about the details, here they are. Ad
Hands-on The New Seiko Prospex SRP series - ref. SRP773K1, SRP775K1, SRP777K1 & SRP779K1 (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
A friend of mine who is an underwater photographer, fisherman, diver, and a watch lover once tried to explain me why he loves dive-watches. Surprisingly, he referred only very briefly to the heavyweights ( , Omega, etc.) and instead he focused mainly on Seiko. He told me that you must be nuts or very rich in order to dive for a specific job (hunt fish for instance) wearing your expensive dive watch; because 9 out of 10 times you gonna scratch it at the very the least if not more. For the friend of mine, if you have a strong and professional link with the sea, you have to?wear a cheap (relatively speaking) but highly reliable, rugged, professional-oriented?dive-watch. That's the essence of a diving watch for him and in this specific?market, Seiko almost dominates the competition. And as the successor of?the iconic Seiko SKX007, the new Seiko Prospex SRP series has to be seriously considered. Baselworld 2012 - Schnitzel Dinner and the Timezone Watch of the Year 2011 - Monochrome Watches
In stead of the usual Weekly Watch Photo I share some photos made by friends. No photos of a watch, but photos of a dinner we enjoyed during Baselworld. A dinner that also?was the award ceremony of the Timezone Watch of the Year 2011.A few weeks ago, during Baselworld 2012, I organized what was supposed to be a small informal dinner for independent watchmakers and online journalists. The responses were?overwhelming?and we could skip the word ‘small’, however it was still informal and a lot of fun. Luckily Gerard from In2watches and Ben from Hodinkee made great photos that evening and allowed me to use their photos. Thanx guys!Let’s take a little look at what happened before…Guests arrived at the restau
Ulysse Nardin partners with The Ocean Race and creates a unique Diver
Ulysse Nardin’s history has forever been intertwined with aquatic life. From very early on, the young watchmaker who started the eponymous company dedicated his work to high-precision chronometry to be used in marine navigation. By 1870, Ulysse Nardin would have already supplied marine chronometers to over 50 of the most formidable navies around the world. With a reputation as profound as UN's, it's only natural to see the company still dedicating part of its operations to the nautical side of watchmaking. Through collections such as the Marine Torpilleur and Diver, the heritage is kept very much alive. Yet, as time progresses, so has Ulysse Nardin as it now embraces the preservation of ocean life with the use of innovative, recycled materials in the new Ulysse Nardin The Ocean Race Diver. The push for sustainability is very much getting up to steam within the watchmaking industry, and we applaud that very much. Through companies like Gyre, Alpina, Oris, Seiko and others, we see m
