New A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Moon Phase Day/Night (Hands-on, Price)
The Lange 1 has been?the?anchor?of the A. Lange & Sohne collection since the brand’s re-emergence in 1994. Back then it was considered quite a disruptive piece, although still exceptionally elegant… and it still is. Another recurring theme at A. Lange & Sohne is the moon, which can be found on several watches from?the Saxonian Manufacture – for example?the Saxonia Moon Phase. So what happens if you combine both? You?get the Lange 1 Moon Phase of course. And since the standard Lange 1 received?a subtle but welcomed update in 2015, it is now the Lange 1 Moon Phase’s turn. Updates include?the addition of the new Lange 1 movement and a new day/night indication incorporated right into the moonphase indication. Here is the new SIHH 2017 A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Moon Phase (not to be confused with the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase).Reference point – the old (left) vs. the new (right) A. Piaget Polo S Automatic Green-and-Gold Limited Edition
The Polo S is Piaget's answer to the luxury sports watch and was launched in 2016. With its 42mm cushion-shaped case and 1970s vibe, the 9.4mm height of the case remained surprisingly slim for an automatic sports watch and reflects Piaget's tradition of watches with lean profiles. For 2020, Piaget introduces a new version of its PDV green dial, now with rose gold hands and indices and a steel bracelet. ?Sporty dimensions, lean profileNo matter how many watch writers claimed to see similarities with the shape of the Polo S and other famous luxury sports watches, the similarity in shape with Piaget's Emperador watches is undeniable. Like the Emperador, the case of the Piaget Polo S is a medley of shapes. The bezel is ostensibly round but the interior part of the bezel draws a subtle octagon giving it a prominent cushion-shape. To emphasise the geometry, the 42mm case is decorated with brushed and polished finishes. The bezel, for example, features a horizontal brushed surface and bevelle
Hands-on: Zenith El Primero Range Rover (Specs, Photos and Price) - Monochrome Watches
There's a common saying that car' guys are watch' guys. Behind this aphorism though is a real connection fueled by the love of fine mechanics, performance and passion. As a result collaborations between watch and car manufacturers have flourished - for the better or worse. Case in point, Zenith and Land Rover recently announced their first watch collaboration. Now regardless of what you think of such partnerships, you have to agree that this one stands out. For a start, Landrover is not just about performance and mechanics. Its go-anywhere, tow-anything cars are an expression of freedom - a philosophy that speaks to me more than turbo-charged engines. Secondly, the Zenith El Primero Range Rover is simply a superb (no-fuss) chronograph. Time for a hands-on look. The Zenith El Primero Range Rover is a variation of the El Primero 36'000 VPH. Just like the vehicles of the British car maker, it is sophisticated and understated. Apart from a discreet Range Rover caption, Zenith has avoided a
Panerai LAB-ID PAM700 - Review (Specs & Price)
A?common cliche is to let engineering and innovation in the hands of Germans / Swiss and design to Italians. Justified or not, you probably heard that dozens of times. Yet, for once, we’ll let Italians their chance to show their skills in terms of innovation… And to be honest, they might have something here. Indeed, the new?Panerai LAB-ID PAM700, presented at the SIHH 2017, is simply a concentrate of Panerai’s technology. 50 years warranty, self-lubricated parts, almost no jewels in the movement, carbon everywhere. See, Italians can also jump into technology.OK, this intro was kind of ironic, because, it has to be said, Panerai watches are mostly developed and manufactured in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Yet, this doesn’t remove anything to the interest behind this watch, a piece that sums up everything the Florentine brand can do best in terms of technology and movement design.?Clearly, the teams of Panerai are both proud and extremely confident in this new concept.
