A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin Copper-Blue Dial - Monochrome Watches
Anyone truly familiar with German watch brand A. Lange & Sohne can be considered an insider. Established in 1845 in the Saxony region of Germany, this Dresden brand was expropriated after World War II and nearly experienced extinction. However, after the Wall came down and Germany was reunified, Walter Lange, great-grandson of founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange had the vision to rebuild the brand in the early 1990's. Today, A. Lange & Sohne boasts 62 manufacture movements and some of the most sophisticated complications on the market. Additionally, the brand's beautiful German designs and horological mastery yield true collector pieces. The Saxonia Thin, the brand's thinnest timepiece and its entry-level offer, is easily one of the most sought-after watches in its repertoire. Now, that coveted status rises thanks to the newest model, the Saxonia Thin with a copper-blue dial that yields an unparalleled celestial appeal. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Bvlgari Octo Roma Monete Skeleton Tourbillon, with 2000-Year-Old Coin (Live Pics) - Monochrome Watches
Last week, during an event on the island of Capri, watchmaker/jeweller Bvlgari unveiled a collection of impressive high-end jewellery watches, including an extraordinary and unique Serpenti Romani secret cuff watch. ?A glamorous exhibition of the brand’s incredible designs and savoir-faire, there were some other watches that caught MONOCHROME’s eye. As part of the “High-End Watches” sub-collection was a pair of Monete men’s watches.?Coin watches…The watch industry is, as you know, quite conservative and traditional. But it also has its quirks, its eccentricities that many don’t understand but which some collectors love. Among them are erotic watches and automata (or both combined in one). And then there are “coin watches”, a niche species that appeals to a niche market, once a speciality of Corum. Bvlgari is no newcomer to “coin” jewellery and Nicola Bvlgari, great-grandson of founder Sotirios Bvlgari, began mounting anc
Chopard L.U.C XPS Facelift for 2017 - Hands-On Review (Specs & Price)
Chopard is unveiling a subtle facelift of the dapper, comfortable and incredibly well-engineered L.U.C XPS. The good news is that it comes in different versions which will suit all tastes and pockets: from the unapologetically smart blued-dialed platinum version to the more affordable steel version, a great opportunity if you are looking for a high-end haute-horlogerie dress watch at an accessible price point. Here's an early hands-on look. With this facelift, the chic and understated L.U.C XPS remains true to its fit with a case measuring 40 mm in diameter and 7.2 mm thick. As you would expect with such a slender profile and ergonomic case, it is elegant and superbly comfortable on the wrist.? The attention to detail is really impressive and the finish impeccable with polished surfaces and satin-brushed flanks and inter-lug space. It would be indeed difficult to find any fault, right down to its well-proportioned signed crown. Ad - Scroll to co
Oeps i did it again... - Monochrome Watches
I’ve been trying to buy a reasonably priced chronograph that is not covering my entire wrist. So after extensive searching i decided to go for the Gerard Perregaux Richeville. It has a reworked Lemania 1872 chronograph movement, which is the 2 register version of the movement which is used in the Omega Speedmaster. This GP Richeville reference 2710 has a case of 35mm. That’s exactly what i was looking for.So after i decided to find me a Richeville, i searched Ebay and missed 4 or 5 to higher bidders. But this morning i finally won an auction for this particalar watch. Here is already a picture of the seller… Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Vintage beauty - Vacheron Constantin American 1921 - Monochrome Watches
When Vacheron Constantin launched the Historique American 1921, information about it’s ancestor was made available as well. With all the information to be found, the original watches are rare, very, very rare! So imagine how surprised I was to get an email from an owner who’s inherited a vintage American 1921 and is looking to sell it. This specific ‘American 1921’ was the first Vacheron to bear this name and was limited to 10 pieces. It was also the first with it’s crown at the 2 o’clock position, or as collectors call it a ‘crown right’ model. The last one of these ‘right crown’ models sold for 61,000 CHF at the Antiquorum ‘Quarter Millenium of Vacheron Constantin‘ auction in 2005.
