First Look: The Czapek Place Vend?me Complicite Stardust Cobalt
Dual regulators were invented by horology's illustrious grandfathers to improve accuracy and stability. Names like Huygens, who introduced the concept of resonance inside his movements, and others like Breguet, Berthoud and Janvier are all associated with this alignment of double regulators. Coveted by collectors, this rara avis is not extinct and reinterpreted by contemporary wizards like F.P. Journe and Vianney Halter and brands like Armin Strom, Audemars Piguet, MB&F et al. Last year, Czapek entered the elite circle and introduced its Place Vend?me Complicite, a dual regulator model developed with watchmaker Bernhard Lederer. Following the first editions in white and rose gold cases, the latest Complicite Stardust Cobalt respects the technology and habillage of former editions but introduces a couple of design tweaks. The principle of the double escapement regulator is to achieve greater accuracy. The New Ikepod Megapod With A One-Minute Hourglass
Ikepod is a preeminent figure in unconventional and often contentious design-focused watchmaking icons. Revered by collectors and enthusiasts alike, the brand, founded in 1994 by designer Marc Newson and entrepreneur Oliver Ike, has left an indelible mark on the watchmaking scene. Despite its global success, Ikepod faced a challenging period, with production coming to a halt in 2012. After a period of dormancy, the brand found a new lease on life under the ownership of Christian-Louis Col, who firmly believed in giving Ikepod a second (third, really) chance. After a series of very appealing and true-to-form watches, Ikepod feels the time has come to retire the gen3 Megapod, with a fitting Hourglass limited edition. From left to right: Ikepod Megapod Hourglass Rob, Walter, Gae, Dieter.Col, recognizing Ikepod as a designer’s brand, collaborated with Emmanuel Gueit (famous creator of AP ROO) for the debut quartz-powered Duopod collection. Hands-On - Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day Jewellery Watch (Specs & Price)
Earlier this year, at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), Jaeger-LeCoultre pulled out all the stops for its women's watches. The brand's much-coveted Rendez-Vous collection (released seven years ago in 2012 and created just for women) was top on the list when it came to new editions. Of particular note were the high jewellery pieces that flaunted new dials, new moon phase discs and beautiful prong settings. Always a beloved complication, the day/night complication takes centre stage in the new Rendez-Vous Night & Day Jewellery watch. Created in either 18k white gold or 18k rose gold, the new versions feature an exceptional prong setting of diamonds. Prong setting is not typically used in watchmaking for a host of reasons, including the fact that if not executed with extreme precision and perfect craftsmanship, the prong could snag clothing.
