Introducing new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph - SIHH 2017
I think we can all agree that the fastest?way to ruin an iconic watch is by completely?redesigning it. It seems that Audemars Piguet subscribes to this idea too and in fact has gone as far as to print it?out in massive letters and put it?everywhere in the design department. Don’t change the Royal Oak, it will only?end in tears and with a final result that is nowhere near as good at what you started with. Still, the market is a sucker for novelties and some fresh air is needed, from time to time. With this in mind,?Audemars Piguet introduces the Refreshed?Royal Oak Chronograph at the SIHH 2017. No?major changes of course, just some tiny little updates?to make it even more?appealing, including a?two-tone dial design.Overall, we’re talking 7 new versions of the?Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph; four versions in pink gold which are available on a matching, pink gold bracelet or an alligator strap and three versions in steel?fitted with stainless steel bracelets. The choice
Introducing the Girard-Perregaux Tri-Axial Tourbillon now in White Gold (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
As every object located on earth, a watch is subjected?to several forces. Together with magnetic fields, the worst enemy of an escapement is gravity, a force?strong enough to deregulate a watch if it remains constantly in the same position. In order to counteract this undesirable effect, a well-known watchmaker named Abraham-Louis Breguet created the tourbillon. This was a perfect ally to pocket watches but the time of wristwatches came and the efficiency of the single axis tourbillon declined. For this reason, We now have some multiple axis escapement and one of the most stunning one is made by Girard-Perregaux and comes with 3 axis and for this year, GP brings?a new visual appearance to its Tri-Axial Tourbillon.?The goal of a tourbillon is (on paper) quite simple: it?aims to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage, to negate the effect of gravity when the timepiece (thus the escapement) is stuck in a certain position. This was es

Great read for the holidays - Monochrome Watches
My friend and fellow blogger Robert-Jan lent me some of his books about watches. He is very passionate about Omega and i will do a post about these books later, especially because they come in handy with the upcoming Antiquorum Auction in New York, where a lot of very special vintage Omega watches will be auctioned. Some of these books are perfect ‘coffee table’ books but on a lazy sunday afternoon they are an excellent read. Besides these books there are also the reference books. One of my personal favorites is ‘Vintage Sports Watches’ written by Skeet & Urul. I don’t look at it as the ‘coffee table’ book, but this book has become a reference bible for everything i want to know about sportswatches.
