2020 Cartier Santos-Dumont Limited-Edition Watches // News & Specs
Cartier expands its Santos timepiece collection with five very special limited-edition watches all bearing the names of the Brazilian aviator's legendary flying machines.? With such a colourful character like early aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont in your archives, it makes sense to capitalise on this particular chapter in Cartier's history. The son of a wealthy Brazilian coffee planter, Alberto Santos-Dumont settled in Paris where he cultivated his passion for flight. His request to Louis Cartier to devise a timepiece that would let him read the time without having to take his hands off the controls resulted in the world’s first men’s wristwatch in 1904 and spawned an entire collection in his name. Four limited editions christened with the names of Santos-Dumont’s flying machines join the collection. Crafted in precious platinum, yellow gold, and a combination of yellow gold and steel, all four models are fitted with an ultra-slim manual-winding movement.Albert
Laurent Ferrier Galet Minute Repeater (Hands-On) - Monochrome Watches
Laurent Ferrier watches are often defined as “simple”.? Well, at least when it comes to the design. But when a 3-hand watch is fitted with a tourbillon double hairspring or a natural escapement (direct double impulse) and a micro-rotor, you can’t be labelled “simple” anymore. With its latest creation, the most complex in the collection so far, Laurent Ferrier doesn’t break its habits. Meet the impressively clean Laurent Ferrier Galet Minute Repeater.Unveiled in the frame of Baselworld 2018, Laurent Ferrier expands its collection with the most complex piece so far. After a superb tourbillon, complex 3-hand watches (Galet, Galet Square and Montre Ecole), a traveller’s watch and an annual calendar, the small Geneva-based atelier adds what is certainly the ultimate complication for a classic-style brand, a minute repeater. The expansion of the collection is rather impressive these days, with various new movements and multiple new designs. And while

Let’s get straight down to it. This is probably one of the best looking dress-chronographs seen recently. Although we tend to keep objectivity at?the center of our articles, Vacheron’s latest?offer just looks superb. Based on a vintage watch from 1955 (that will be explained later), this new timepiece has it all: the right diameter, the right amount of Heritage, a superb movement and a dial that is… well you can see it. Here is the?Vacheron Constantin Chronograph Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 to be introduced at Watches & Wonders 2015.Yes, there’s one default: its name. ‘Cornes de Vache‘ stands for ‘cow horns‘. Not the sexiest name ever for sure, you would have to agree. Some old Vacheron-Constantin were nicknamed ‘teardrops‘, which is as evocative but easier to explain to non-collectors. However, that ‘Cornes de Vache‘?name has a link with an historical piece from the old manufacture. The?Vacheron Constanti
