A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus Titanium Limited Edition (Price)
The announcement in late 2019 of the A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus somehow came as a surprise. First, it was the German brand’s first-ever sports watch, while the competition was already well active in this field. Second, it was a rather unexpected watch, as many hope for a watch like the competition, but it wasn’t… In short, it is the A. Lange & Sohne you can wear on a daily basis, at the pool, on holidays, but not a true ultra-thin luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet (like an RO or a Nautilus). First unveiled in steel, followed by a white gold edition, now?A. Lange & Sohne?drops the first limited edition model… And it’s stunning, yet rare and very exclusive. Meet the Odysseus Titanium Limited Edition. The new Odysseus Titanium is basically the same watch you’ve come to love (or not) as before. Except for changes in the materials, finishings and colours, it’s entirely identical to the stainless steel model regarding proporti
Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Special Editions 2020 (Specs & Price)
Even if most of the buzz has been generated around the successful Octo collection – and its multiple thinness world records – there is more than just one modern icon produced by the Italian watchmaker/jeweller. Based on a model introduced in the mid-1970s, the Bvlgari Bvlgari collection perpetuates this love affair between Bvlgari and its country of origin, with a deceptively simple design that actually incorporates multiple references to Italian culture. Today, the brand launches the Bvlgari Bvlgari Cities Editions 2020, inspired by the nine cities – Rome, Tokyo, Dubai, Paris, London, Ibiza, Milan, Mexico City and New York – that have hosted Bvlgari in the past.A 1970s BackgroundThe original design of the Bvlgari Bvlgari, with its signature cylindrical case and bezel engraved with the brand’s name and Roma, was first introduced in 1975 as a limited edition gift for 100 of Bvlgari's best clients. With its unexpected combination of a yellow gold shine, a cl
The Most Sought-After Patek Philippe Models in Collection - And the Sad Reality of the Market
Last week, we published an article that we believed was a “necessary evil”. We listed the 5 most sought-after watches currently in production and looked at their “real” market value, the reasons behind the trend and the premium you actually have to pay if you want to get your hands on these watches today. This article has been a hot topic of discussion, with many comments – most of them very interesting. For this reason, we’ve decided to also look at another brand, which is now under the same speculative bubble: Patek Philippe. So here are the hottest Patek Philippe watches now in the collection and guess what, all of them are Nautilus and Aquanaut models. Here’s what you'll have to pay if you want to skip the (sometimes even 10-year) waiting list. The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 is one of the most desirable watches on the market today, if not THE most desirable one.The fame of the Nautilus, especially the time-and-date steel/blue dial versio
Bovet, 200 Years Of History And Many More To Come - Monochrome Watches
There are not so many watchmakers that are able to celebrate their 200th anniversary. So is Bovet. Among the different events organized to mark this milestone anniversary, MONOCHROME was honoured to be invited to spend a day at Bovet's headquarters, the Motiers Castle. There, we were able to discover their brand-new museum, to attend masterclasses – watchmaking, engraving and miniature painting – and to meet Pascal Raffy, CEO and owner of the Maison as well as his daughter Audrey who joined the company a few months ago. Bovet was founded in 1822, just a few years after the Bovet brothers left their hometown of Fleurier. Edouard Bovet had headed to China where he was able to sell four of his mechanical timekeeping instruments for CHF 10,000 each. He came back from China convinced of the strength and opportunity in the Asian market, and together with his brothers, he formed the Bovet manufacture, focusing on highly decorated and chronometrically advance
TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition Calibre Heuer 02
One of the new models launched during Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 is a watch that is a true blend of emblematic features. Not only is it one of the most iconic models in the history of TAG Heuer, with a connection to motorsports and one of the most legendary cars ever, but its colour scheme will immediately talk to all petrolheads. Today, TAG Heuer brings back the Monaco in Gulf livery. And to make it even better, the watch that used to be powered by an outsourced movement has been replaced by an in-house-powered model. Here’s the fantastic new TAG Heuer Monaco Gulf Special Edition Calibre Heuer 02… but with one minor complaint that I’ll mention later.?It might not be the place to review the entire story of the emblematic Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 and all its derivates here, but if you want to know more, you can watch this in-depth video that will explain everything. What’s more interesting is this: the link between Heuer (not yet TAG at that time) and Gulf,
