Auction - Top Lots of The Royal 50 Audemars Piguet Sale by Ineichen
As you are undoubtedly aware, this year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most important watches ever created, the most emblematic watch of Audemars Piguet and the most famous creation of genius designer Gerald Genta: the Royal Oak. Although the brand has already released its commemorative collection, including a new flagship watch (the 16202 Jumbo), auction houses are also keen to ride the celebratory wave. After Phillips / Bacs & Russo, it’s time for Zurich-based Ineichen Auctioneers to host a dedicated sale, gathering 50 of the finest Royal Oak models. Dubbed the “Royal 50 Audemars Piguet” auction, it will take place in Zurich and online on 28 May 2022. Furthermore, this is the first time a leading watch auction house will drop the buyer's premium and register its shares on the blockchain. And here are some of the most standout Royal Oak watches to be auctioned.A?Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Premier Limited Edition Ref. 26530STThere have been
A young Frenchman pursuing a career in clock- & watchmaking.
Over the course of the past couple of months, we've introduced you to a fair number of new and exciting watchmakers doing some fascinating things. One thing that becomes clear talking to these individuals is the love for sharing their passion, and there's a shared network of watchmakers helping each other move forward, perfecting skills and learning new traits in the process. Theo Levaltier, a student who is about to complete a 7-year study at the Lycee Edgar Faure in Morteau, France, is no different. This youngster, only 22 years old, has worked with and is trained by Florent Lecomte, Thierry Ducret and others, and is now looking to set out on his own. Initially, his plan is to restore historical clocks and watches, but seeing his work on school projects, we'd happily see more of his own work in the future as well!Robin Nooij, MONOCHROME: Theo, I think it's best if you first introduce yourself to our readers? First Look: The Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon x SORAI
When the Big Bang exploded on the watch scene in 2005, it was the paragon of an oversized, high-octane, octagonal sports watch flaunting an unusual fusion of materials. A decade later, the Spirit of Big Bang joined the lineup of Hublot. Embracing a similar concept, the Spirit proposed a more complex case with a tonneau-shaped, cambered profile, lateral rubber bumpers, and openworked dials. One sub-collection in the Spirit of Big Bang family is dedicated to partnerships, with models like the Sang Bleu made in collaboration with tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Buchi. The latest partnership sees Hublot and SORAI - the rhino conservation organisation - united to raise awareness and funds to fight the threats facing rhinos today. Marking the fourth Hublot x SORAI watch, but the first Spirit of Big Bang, this edition comes in a grey ceramic case with a tourbillon regulator and is limited to 30 pieces.SORAI, which stands for Save our Rhinos Africa and India, was founded by former England cricket
Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer (Specs, Availability & Price)
This year, one of the most iconic watches ever created will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Its name: the Speedmaster. As you can imagine, with such a long history and so many iconic versions,?every new Speedmaster carries the spirit and design inspiration of the models that came before. As a preview of the future collection that will come at Baselworld 2017, the Biel-based brand shows this concept with the new?Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer, with a dial that refers to?a 1968 Speedmaster model (the Racing-Dial Speedmaster), yet with modern size and features. This new?Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer is based on the already known 44.25mm automatic version of the Speedmaster (not the iconic 42mm “Moonwatch” case), with a stainless case and the in-house chronograph movement of the brand. The brand new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic 4500V - Monochrome Watches
In the new Overseas Collection, Vacheron introduced the highly desirable ultra-thin edition of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas. This watch clearly brings back VC where it deserves to be, in the top 3 of the luxury sports watches. However, there’s a major issue with the ultra-thin edition: it is rather expensive and not every collector will have pockets large enough to afford it. No worries, if you intend to buy a time-only Overseas, Vacheron-Constantin also has another solution, more affordable and not void of interest (at all). Here is the?brand new Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic 4500V, with its stainless steel case (but also a pink gold option) and all new in-house movement.Don’t consider the?Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic 4500V as the poor-man Overseas. Consider it at the classical offer and imagine the ultra-thin edition as the luxurious one. In fact, this edition replaces the actual time-only Overseas that we know for several years now – and look
