Lights, Camera, Action with the Horage Lensman 1 Tourbillon
Horage is an independent Swiss brand founded in 2007 and has already developed three in-house movements. There's the K1 automatic in models like the Autark and Omnium, K2 micro-rotor in the new Supersede integrated sports watch and K-TOU tourbillon in its second watch, the Lensman 1. This latest piece follows the Tourbillon 1, which was the most accessible in-house Swiss Tourbillon on the market. As the name suggests, the Lensman 1 has a photography theme with an emphasis on Leica. The Tourbillon 1 case came in 904L stainless steel or 18k gold, but the Lensman 1 is T5 titanium. Pro photographers often choose black cameras to be discreet, so many elements of the watch are blacked out to match. There's a laser-etched aperture ring on the case side, resembling a traditional Leica lens, and the fixed bezel replicates a focusing ring. Dimensions are 41mm in diameter and 10.3mm in height (lug-to-lug 49mm). The push/pull crown features a black onyx stone insert and water resistance is rated at
Introducing the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French LE
The connection between classic cars and Chopard isn't to be demonstrated anymore. Beyond the brand's co-CEO passion for vintage automobiles, the brand has been associated with the emblematic Mille Miglia race since 1988. In the frame of this partnership, Chopard developed a dedicated collection of racing chronographs, with now 35 years of history under the hood. Now, in the context of one of the largest classic car shows in Europe, Retromobile, Chopard presents its latest creation, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French Limited Edition. The Mille Miglia, an iconic open-road endurance race spanning approximately 1,500km from Brescia to Rome and back, was established in 1927 by Count Mazzotti and Count Maggi. Legend has it that their dissatisfaction with the relocation of the Italian Grand Prix from Brescia to Monza spurred the inception of this legendary event. In 1988, Chopard lent its support to the revived (since 1977) Mille Miglia race for cars constructe

Introducing The New, Vintage-Inspired Vulcain Cricket Nautical Alarm Dive Watch (Live Pics & Price)
The name Vulcain is, for obvious reasons, often associated with the alarm complication. The venerable brand, founded in 1858 in Le Locle, Switzerland, has since 1947 made this function a signature element of so many of its watches. Slightly dormant in past years, the brand has recently been revived and various historical models have been brought back, with original movements and appealing retro-styled designs. In addition to the Skindiver Nautique, a classic dive watch, and an elegant chronograph, it’s mostly the return of the Cricket watch that caught our attention. Now, it’s time for one of the brand’s most important watches to return, a diving instrument with an underwater-ready alarm function, the Vulcain Cricket Nautical.?historical referencesIt took almost 100 years for Vulcain to properly make a name for itself. But in 1947, the brand and its manufacture will create a watch/movement that will define almost entirely its future production, the Cricket watch. To p
Trintec Zulu-03 Altimeter - Full Review of the first aircraft instrument watch (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
The recent anniversary of the Bell & Ross BR01 collection, which came to light some 10 years ago, led me to a question that I couldn't answer immediately. The square Bell & Ross might be iconic at this moment in time, but is it the first aircraft instrument inspired watch? The question would slip to the back of my mind as life continued, but as luck would have it, an answer recently emerged: the Trintec Zulu-03 Altimeter. Before we head deeper into what's what, I have to point out the obvious here. The Trintec watches are in no ways comparable in terms of watchmaking and finishing to the Bell & Ross watches. Yes, they come with automatic movements, and yes are directly inspired by aircraft instruments but they are a) not Swiss Made and b) not in the same price bracket by far as the Parisian counterpart. Speaking in terms of watchmaking, it isn't something we tend to cover on Monochrome but there is a story here that is worth investigating. Ad - Scroll to continue
