Collector's Series - watchfoodwithme's Daniel Roth Papillon 10th Anniversary
An American-based watch collector, Sagar, a.k.a @watchfoodwithme on Instagram, works in Regulatory Affairs for Medical Devices. He might be only 31 years old, but if you look at his feed on social media, scrolling through his collection of watches, you'll see that he already is quite a seasoned horology enthusiast. And he clearly has a thing for unusual watches and colours. From his home base in Minneapolis, USA, he explains why his Daniel Roth Papillon 10th Anniversary Model, which is limited to 110 pieces, is one of his most coveted pieces.?Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – Your Daniel Roth Papillon is awesome. When did you discover Daniel Roth watches?Sagar, @watchfoodwithme – It was @Orangedial17 a.k.a Wayne's Instagram handle, where I discovered this brand Daniel Roth in late 2020. He had a beautiful salmon dial chronograph and then I started learning about the brand and stumbled upon Frank's Daniel Roth small seconds with a salmon dial on a MONOCHROME article. Trust me, I tr
Talking Watches, Blogging, Speedy Tuesday and Selling Watches with Fratello's Founder Robert-Jan Broer - Monochrome Watches
I guess you know Robert-Jan Broer, founder of the Fratellowatches online magazine, initiator of #SpeedyTuesday, and the Speedy Tuesday limited editions that OMEGA introduced in the past years. Robert-Jan and I met some fifteen years ago in The Hague, Netherlands, where both of us lived. We were both watch enthusiasts, and we craved more opportunities to talk about watches with like-minded folk. And both of us started a WordPress blog about the watches we loved so much, and for many years, we drove to Baselworld together. Robert-Jan got his Fratellowatches blog intertwined with Ebner Verlag, a German publishing house and later bought it back to team up with Chrono24. Over the past two years, Fratellowatches has gone from publishing to selling pre-owned watches, selling their own Limited Editions, and even new watches from some major watch brands. We’re talking with Robert-Jan Broer about his journey with Fratellowatches.? On the road to Basel… Who’

Introducing: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Orbis in Machina Central Monotourbillon
Just unveiled at Watches & Wonders Geneva, the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Orbis in Machina places the tourbillon at its core, evoking a design reminiscent of the 2022 Knights of the Round Table Monotourbillon DBEX1025. With knights in shining armour gone searching for a different place, this timepiece presents a fresh aesthetic, featuring contrasting concentric circles in pink gold and grey to mark the seconds, minutes, and hours. While less overtly futuristic than the brand’s renowned hyper-horology models, this watch blends modernity with traditional craftsmanship. It is a testament to Roger Dubuis’ exceptional watchmaking prowess, offering a remarkable yet not super-exaggerated addition to their collection. The imposing 45mm Excalibur case with a distinctive notched bezel and elaborate crown guards is crafted from rose gold; it is 14.41mm thick, has sapphire crystals front and back, and boasts a 100m water resistance. The multi-level, three-dimensional dial of Orbis i
Hands-On With The Ultra-Cool Ice-Blue Tissot PRX Powermatic 80
Sometimes, small changes can make a huge difference, and create great enthusiasm. Yes, I know that the topic of the day will just be about a new dial colour. But in all fairness, that was a highly-anticipated one, an addition to an already very popular collection that will only make it more desirable. Tissot, with the PRX collection, seems to have found the sweet spot. Cool, well-made, well-equipped, accessible and answering to the market’s demand, it ticks many boxes. And as the collection evolves, Tissot answers the expectations of its clients. Easy-change rubber straps? Done. Chronograph in cool colours? Check. 35mm Automatic? Not entirely there yet… Ice-Blue dial with automatic movement? Yes, it’s there, and this Ice-Blue Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 is really as cool as we wanted it to be!When in 2021 Tissot launched the PRX collection, it somehow created a small tsunami. Right in the middle of the hype for 1970s-inspired sporty-chic steel watches with integrated bra
