Hands-on with the 2016 edition of the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin, with new face (live pics, specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
This 2016 edition of the SIHH has been very productive for A. Lange & Sohne (again…). We’ve seen the stunning (yes, that’s an understatement) Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, the poetical and kind of magical Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase Lumen, the very elegant and balanced Saxonia Moon Phase or the highly technical Richard Lange Jumping Seconds. Clearly, the Saxonian Manufacture didn’t disappoint this year. Besides these proper novelties, there was also an update of an existing watch introduced, a watch that may not be the most coveted creation of Lange but one that really has charm and a discrete elegance, the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin, which?now features a new face.As said in the introduction, the?A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin isn’t a proper novelty, as the previous edition of this watch was?introduced at the SIHH 2011, as you can see here, in our dedicated article. However, we have to remind now the 2015 edition of the SIHH, where A. Lange &a
Buying Guide: Colours Still Ruled The Headlines At Watches & Wonders 2023
Despite the fact we’re weeks on from this year’s Watches & Wonders already, there is still plenty of stuff to talk about. Whether it’s simply picking the best new watches of the entire show, or categorizing some of the finest new chronographs, we are far from done yet! And this week’s Buying Guide picks up on another favourite topic of hours; dials! More specifically, coloured dials! During the week in Geneva a lot of brands presented bright and fun new dials, and some with a little twist on existing shades of colour. Here’s our selection of the 7 best new colours from everything that was presented at Watches & Wonders 2023!Oris ProPilot X Kermit EditionWe kick things off with a very unexpected and fun watch by Oris, who presented the ProPilot X Kermit Edition. This frivolous take on the edgy ProPilot X, upgraded with the in-house Calibre 400 last year, sports a very bright lime green dial. Every first day of the month you’re also greeted by
Introducing: The Return of the Gerald Genta-Designed Credor Locomotive
Gerald Genta is surely mostly known for his work with Audemars Piguet (1972, Royal Oak), Patek Philippe (Nautilus, 1976) or his own bold and original creations. There is, however, much more to the man than just these two icons of the luxury sports watch category (think Universal Geneve Polerouter, Omega Constellation or King Midas). Lesser known is his work in Japan, and in particular, a watch designed in 1979, with most of the traits of a classic sporty-chic watch with a bracelet, the Credor Locomotive. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Seiko-owned high-end watchmaker, the Credor Locomotive is now back as a luxurious and automatic titanium limited edition, the reference GCCR999. 1979 Seiko Credor Locomotive Genta’s design sketch for the Locomotive Credor was born in 1974, as a higher-end and more luxurious take on Japanese watchmaking. While Grand Seiko can be seen as the technical and precision-oriented side of the Group, Credor is its high-e

Introducing: The 2023 Roger Dubuis Knights of the Round Table
While the modern side of Roger Dubuis is unmistakably all about bold high horology (what the brand names Hyper Horology), there’s one collection that might even make a greater impact with watches infused with Medieval mythology and, in particular, by the legendary knights of the fellowship of King Arthur. Ever since the first Knights of the Round Table timepiece was unveiled in 2013, this theme has been central to Roger Dubuis, which today unveils the latest version of this distinctive watch.?Anti-conformist, bold, unique in this field of horology… The whole concept behind the Roger Dubuis Knights of the Round Table collection is certainly powerful. Not a ‘consensual’ watch by any stretch of the imagination. With the latest version that’s just been presented, the brand is again demonstrating its capacity to combine strong design cues and impressive craftsmanship. Despite a design that won’t be unanimously accepted, we can’t overlook the level o
