A new white gold case for the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet QP
Audemars Piguet’s?longstanding history of calendar watches is still very much alive with the new release of its Code 11.59. Although it is not the first time the QP complication finds its way to AP’s vision of a modern classic, this one looks exceptionally handsome, thanks to the starry sky background. In a departure from the bold pink gold version, here is the new Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar in white gold.Since its launch, much has been said of the Code 11.59, mainly regarding the slightly mundane inaugural line-up. Not deterred by the public’s banter, Audemars Piguet has since expanded the collection with bolder and more exciting combinations of materials and complications. This includes such stellar pieces as the Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonnerie?or the Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon with an aventurine dial. One of the other stand-out models revolves around the classical, romantic Perpetual Calendar complication, seen here in a new white go
H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Flying Hours (SIHH 2018) - Specs & Price
When we hear the name H. Moser & Cie., we usually have classic and clean design in mind – or sometimes a certain sense of provocation, with the Swiss Mad Watch or the recent?Swiss Icons Watch. Yet, for the first time in its history, the Schaffhausen-based manufacture has revisited its time display methods to create a new, disc-based system. Meet the?Endeavour Flying Hours with planetary display of hours and minutes. With the?Endeavour Flying Hours, Moser introduces a truly original display of the time, which has been conceived in association with sister-company Hautlence (which are known for their unusual displays). At first, we though this new Moser watch was inspired by the well-known Audemars Piguet Star Wheel. However, we were wrong. On the AP and the Golden Wheel by Arnold and Son, the time is indicated by the means of 3 hour discs that rotate first on a central axis and then on their own axis. The hour numeral is used as a pointer for the minutes when running along the f
Andersen Geneve x Asprey Worldtime Double-Signed
In the world of vintage watch collecting, provenance is key in the value attached to a watch. A strong and valuable indication of the early days of a watch is known as the double signature, where the name of a retailer is stamped on the dial. Double-signed watches have been a strong topic of interest recently at auctions, with names like Tiffany, Beyer, Gobbi or Serpico Y Laino multiplying the value of a watch (there’s a highly interesting article on this topic to read here, at A Collected Man). Asprey, a London-based luxury short, is one of them and today, it brings back the concept of double-signed high-end watches, with a handsome Andersen Geneve Worldtime.A perfect example of Asprey double-signed watch, a Patek Philippe Calatrava 565 in steel with Asprey logo at 6 o’clock – image by Phillips WatchesJust like Harrods or Selfridges, Asprey is one of the most influential addresses in London when it comes to luxury shopping. Christophe Claret presents the X-TREM-1 Pinball - Monochrome Watches
Another timepiece for the Only Watch auction is a unique approach to the X-TREM-1 that Christophe Claret introduced last year. Of course we shared that brilliant timepiece with you (click here) because it was the very first timepiece to indicate time by means of magnetism! Yes indeed, magnetism usually is something you’d like to avoid in or around your mechanical watch, however Christophe Claret found a way to use moving magnets and round metal balls to indicate the time.?Besides the magnetism, the X-TREM-1 also features a tourbillon, that is mounted at a 30 degree angle. At that angle the tourbillon is simply more visible to the person wearing the watch and visual effects are key in a timepiece like the X-TREM-1. The folks over at Christophe Claret will mind the technical aspects and they are good at that. The new X-TREM-1 Pinball resembles the inside of a pinball machine, with bumpers, slingshots, balls and even a TILT button! Ad - Scroll to continue with article

The link between TAG Heuer (and previously Heuer) and motor racing doesn’t need to be demonstrated anymore From the creation of dashboard instruments to the Carrera chronograph, followed by an array of F1 or sports car-inspired watches (most named after famous race tracks), to end up with the brand’s current sponsorship of the Red Bull F1 team, motor racing made the brand what it is today.
