Calibre 11 - Vintage Heuer watches - Monochrome Watches
Calibre 11 is the first automatic chronograph and the name of a new weblog dedicated to Vintage Heuer watches. If you’re into vintage Heuer watches, you might want to check it out. Since my first ‘expensive’ watch, a vintage Heuer Autavia, i’m a huge fan of vintage Heuer watches. Especially their chronographs. The fact they made the first automatic chronograph ever, also adds to my admiration of these watches…. OK, they developed it together with Buren, Breitling and Dubois-Depraz. Although i must admit some of the Heuer dive watches aren’t bad either, i have a thing for chronographs. I ended up buying the diver’s version of the Heuer Autavia ??My vintage Heuer AutaviaUnfortunately my biggest love (in watches), the independent watchmakers, hardly make any chronograph. Of course there are a few… the MIH Watch of course and the Habring2 Chrono COS. Both beautiful chronographs and made by independent watchmakers. Ad - Scroll to co
Meet The Makers - Casa Fagliano, Boot-Maker And Strap-Maker for Jaeger-LeCoultre
There are many reasons we love watches. For some it's their design, for others it's their historical significance. What really caught my imagination, when I received my grandfather's 1960s Omega Constellation on my 21st birthday, was that somebody had actually sat at a workbench and assembled this micro-machine by hand. It blew my mind. Since then I've had an unrelenting appreciation for all things made by hand. My admiration only grew, as we dive deeper into a digital world where more often than not we can do things quicker and cheaper. But artisans do things for the passion, not the speed or price. They opt to do it the way it's always been done for the pride in the work. And I love that. In the first instalment of our new series: Meet The Makers, I had the privilege of sitting down with the man at the helm of legendary Argentina bootmaker, Germ¨¢n Fagliano. Enjoy. Can you tell us little about Fagliano and your history as a maker? Our Family comes from Cuneo, in the Piedmont?region (nor

Earlier this year, Patek Philippe unveiled the limited-edition Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5650G, featuring the latest technology developed by its Advanced Research program. Today, we're going hands-on with this incredible timepiece to learn more about what Patek Philippe is calling two important innovations in the field of horological design' and to see just how practical the watch is for everyday wear and use.Patek Philippe Advanced ResearchFor many people, Patek Philippe is a prestigious but conservative watch brand, focused primarily on traditional designs and historic complications. And while there is some truth in that description, the Geneva-based watch manufacturer is also highly innovative, constantly seeking to develop new technologies and improve on existing ones. Throughout the course of its 178-year history, the Maison has developed dozens

Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date 40mm // Review, Price
Just before Father Christmas made his rounds in 2019, Oris delivered a full bronze version of its Big Crown Pointer Date. When we say full bronze we are referring to a bronze case, a bronze bezel, a bronze crown and even a bronze dial. We reviewed the 80th anniversary models of the Big Crown in 2018 decked out in bronze (36mm and 40mm) with green dials, but this is the first time bronze makes its appearance on the face of the watch, with the new Oris Big Crown Bronze Pointer Date 40mm. And it’s in, at the MONOCHROME’s office, for a review. Reintroduced by Dr Rolf Portmann in 1984 on a hunch that nostalgia for mechanical watches with a dash of aviation history mig
