First Look: The New All-Black Versions of the Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto Chrono (Incl. Video)
The Intra-Matic's origins are rooted in Project 99, developed with Buren, Heuer, Breitling and movement specialist Dubois-Depraz. The result of this joint effort was presented in 1969 with one of the first automatic chronograph movements called Chrono-Matic, or Calibre 11, depending on the brand using it. Alongside, Hamilton presented in the late 1960s the Chronograph A and B models, and by mixing both, you ended up in 2017 with the Intra-Matic 68 Chronograph. Since then, we’ve seen several editions under the name Intra-Matic Auto Chrono and today, Hamilton launches a new sub-collection of stealthy black-coated models with bright coloured accents. If you look closely at early Hamilton models under the original Chrono-Matic name, you can trace the lineage of that one all the way to this stealthy new trio. A bicompax dial layout, a date window in the bottom, and a set of pushers on the right-hand side of the case. Interestingly, the original movement put the crown on the left side,
IWC Big Pilots Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Edition Mojave Desert - Monochrome Watches
I guess, by now, we’re all accustomed ceramic being used for watch cases and bezels. Whether we’re looking at Rado, the brand that pioneered the use of ceramic already in the early 1980s, or the many other brands using ceramic for the bezel insert, even in colours that were considered impossible to match (GMT-Master II Pepsi.) However, IWC is taking things a few steps further and with this, they show again who they are and also where their pioneering spirit comes from. We’re looking at the new Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar ‘Mojave Desert’.?IWC was the first watch company to use ceramics for some movement parts in their in-house movements (or at least, besides ceramic ball bearings which are used by many.) Why? Ceramic is not only scratch resistant, but it hardly wears down and is much more durable than many of the (softer) metals that are used for many parts in a watch movement. This is the IWC way of thinking, and it’s been in the brand’s DNA t

80 years ago (yes, already…), a brand named International Watch Co. launched a watch that will later become an icon and one emblematic collection. This watch was a “Special Watch For Pilots” and it was introduced to the world in 1936. Decades after, the spirit that the brand injected in this watch is still alive and the current?IWC Big Pilot’s Watch still represents the pinnacle of the aviator’s instrument. New brand - Vortic Watch Co. mixing antique American pocket-watch movements and 3D printed cases (live pics & price) - Monochrome Watches
Brands come and go, but history remains, we all know that. And that is exactly what Vortic Watch Co. embodies as a product. Instead of designing, engineering and building an innovative new product, Vortic Watch Co. feels that we had it right the first time and decided to go from there. The American Artisan Series by Vortic Watch Co. was born, roughly a hundred years ago - well at least for the movements, as the 3D printed cases are all except vintage ones.Vortic Watch Co. is headed by three Penn State University graduates, who played around with 3d printing in steel and eventually ended up launching a watch brand. Each and every watch built by Vortic Watch Co. has a 3d printed steel case in various different finishes and dimensions. 3d printing has seen a huge increase of possible applications over the past few years, whether it being plastics, steel or other type of material. We've also seen some of these applications wander over into the watch industry, like the 3d printed dials of A
New 2022 Editions of Fortis Marinemaster M-44 - Hands-On, Specs, Price
A Swiss brand specialised (mostly) in rugged watches meant to be used onboard planes or in outer space, Fortis continues its restructuring and revamping its collections. Last year, the brand relaunched one of its most important watches, which for once isn’t made for the air, but for exploration of planet Earth, on land and underwater. A typical all-rounder for adventure, the Fortis Marinemaster was revamped with two editions, a compact 40mm version and its bigger, bolder brother, the manufacture-powered Marinemaster M-44. Previously only available in orange, this action-ready watch now comes in 4 new colours, including a rather surprising Limited Edition. The name Marinemaster originates from the 1950s and has since been used to indicate the brand's highly waterproof watches. During the years the name has adorned watches with the intention to be used in aquatic life, but not necessarily ultra-focused dive watches. It could include complications such as a chronograph, or an alarm.
