Introducing the new Batavi Architect Turquoise Blue & Tony Purple
First things first, the watch industry is going a little crazy as Tiffany seems to be all the rage at the moment. Thanks to the Patek Philippe Nautilus with Tiffany dial going through the roof recently, all things closely matching the famous Tiffany Blue seem to skyrocket in attention, and prices. And then we learn about the Batavi Architect Turquoise Blue & Tony Purple. Bad timing? Good timing? Or a bit of both?To make one thing clear from the get-go, the Batavi Architect Tiffany Blue is not a direct result of the popularity of the Tiffany Nautilus mentioned in the intro. It is simply close to impossible to develop and produce a set of new dials and have them assembled and ready to go in such a short amount of time. We're talking about a mere four weeks between that specific Nautilus and this Batavi Architect. So it seems that where Ugur Mamak, the founder of Batavi was right on the money with his Architect last year, he again finds himself in the midst of a storm. Albeit a Tiffan
Pre-Baselworld 2017 - Frederique Constant Classic Worldtimer Manufacture Brown Dial - Monochrome Watches
We told you several times, the Word-Time complication is certainly the best answer to the issues?of current business habits. Many of us are frequent travelers or work in an international environment, switching timezones (virtually or literally) more often?than we?change shirt. The need for a watch that displays multiple time-zones has never been so high. However, as we’ve seen, World-Time watches can go from quite accessible to insanely expensive. For that,?Frederique Constant has a nice offer, affordable for sure, but also full of technical content (in-house movement and module, interesting way to adjust…); the?Classic Worldtimer Manufacture. For Baselworld 2017, this watch will be introduced in a pink gold plated / brown dial combination. In their press release,?Frederique Constant states that “the man of today has become a true Citizen of the World and travelling has become as natural as running or reading” and on that part, we have to agree. Never before we h
Bubba Watson wins Golf Tournament wearing a Richard Mille RM038 - Monochrome Watches
Now usually you won’t see these kind of titles on Monochrome, however in this case I wanted to make an exception. The reason for this, is that withstanding the shocks and G-forces that a wrist watch endures during a game of golf, are ‘pretty extreme’.Of course we’re happy for 33 year old Bubba Watson. However Monochrome is not about sharing sports results. Richard Mille’s technical achievement is something Monochrome should report about and we will. The recently released RM055 Bubba Watson can withstand forces of no less than 500G; that’s ‘pretty extreme’. The RM038 tourbillon is able to work in golf's extreme conditions and was designed with 3 major specifications in mind: lightness, extreme shock resis-tance and comfor
The Montblanc Patented ExoTourbillon explained by Davide Cerrato, managing director of the Montblanc Watch Division - Monochrome Watches
In January of this year, at the SIHH 2016, Montblanc continued to impress with good looking and pleasantly priced watches. The ExoTourbillon Slim, an elegant, luxurious and technically complex timepiece, which includes the brand’s patented tourbillon, the ExoTourbillon. This watch not only features a tourbillon regulator that clearly stands out from the crowd, but it is also an extremely good “value for money” offer matching the accessible luxury motto of Montblanc. At Monochrome Watches we love to explain the nitty gritty technicalities in details and this summer we traveled to Villeret, Switzerland, and asked?Davide Cerrato, the recently appointed Managing Director of Montblanc Watch Division, to tell us everything about the ExoTourbillon.?Sit back and relax, as Davide Cerrato explains the ExoTourbillon in this 10 minute video…Why such a focus on the Montblanc Patented ExoTourbillon? Well, this tourbillon is not just another tourbillon. This tourbillon is diff
3 Watches from Certina, Hamilton and Tissot with Powermatic Movement
Last week, we published an in-depth technical article on the ETA C07.811 movement, also known as the Powermatic. This time, we’ll show how versatile this movement and its evolutions really are. In this guide, we'll take a look at three watches from Hamilton, Tissot and Certina with totally different concepts – dressy, diver or military – all equipped with slightly different calibres based on this Powermatic concept.? And remember, don't be fooled by their prices this is good watchmaking.Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium – The classic one-watch-collectionTissot has been around since 1853, and it hasn’t survived all this time by messing about. Tissot is a watch brand that everyone knows, but no-one really has an opinion about. Yes, it makes accurate and reliable watches and, yes, the designs are nice, and yes, the quality is excellent for the price but that's as far as it goes. This is kind of a middle-of-the-road brand. That entry-level approach might
