The 2020 Pasha de Cartier Stainless Steel 41mm (Specs & Price)
The Parisian Maison heralded the return of its Pasha de Cartier collection a couple of weeks ago, during the virtual edition of Watches & Wonders 2020. Originally launched as a collection in 1985, the Pasha was discontinued about ten years ago. Awakening after a decade of slumber, the Pasha de Cartier arrives in two new case sizes of 41mm and 35mm and is clearly being marketed as a unisex watch. Apart from the high jewellery and skeletonised/tourbillon models, the core collection is composed of three-hand models in different case materials fitted with mechanical automatic movements and Cartier's QuickSwitch strap changing system. How has the original 1985 fared in this latest transformation? Was it really commissioned as a one-off waterproof piece by the Pasha of Marrakech in 1932? Read on and find out what we thought of the legend behind the watch and the 41mm steel version we had for our review session.CARTIER’S REMARKABLE SHAPED CASESThe legendary Parisian jewellery house
Ophion OPH-960 - Review of an affordable new brand with interesting horological content (live photos & price) - Monochrome-Watches
It’s tough to think of a collector who?hasn’t?dreamt of ultra-high-end watches such as F.P. Journe, Kari Voutilainen, Laurent Ferrier or Philippe Dufour? These dream-watches are however, for almost all of us, unreachable objects, with prices starting at 50k (and with no limits). Miguel, the founder of Ophion?Watches, also harbors ambitions of owning such watches… but he know’s that, for most of us, the?average collector, it will most likely never happen. Instead of living in a dreamworld, he decided to create watches that could, for a fraction of the price, provide somewhat of the pleasure of these dream watches mentioned previously. Here is the full review of his horological vision, the Ophion OPH-960,?an affordable proposition?with interesting horological content.BackgroundLet’s be straight and?lay the groundwork first. Don’t expect the Ophion OPH-960 to be even close to?a Laurent Ferrier or a F.P. Journe in terms of finishing or horological precis
Baselworld 2019 - Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator 5235R Rose Gold (Specs & Price)
While the Calatrava collection mostly comprises simple, 3-hand watches (automatic or not, with or without date), it barely features complications… Except that one watch that is so unique in the collection, first because of its display and unique combination of complications, but also because of its movement itself (at least, back when it was introduced). As a preview to what will come at Baselworld 2019, meet the new rose gold version of the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Regulator, reference 5235R.The regulator is one of the most traditional displays the watchmaking industry can produce. It wasn’t, however, intended for the wrist. The regulator display was used on master-clocks in workshops so watchmakers could adjust the timepieces they were working on, by relying on a highly precise clock with a specific way to indicate the time; watches were regulated on a 1-hour base, which is the reason why the main hand on a regulator is the minutes hand, and why the hours and second
H. Moser & Cie. Heritage Bucherer Blue Editions (Specs & Price)
Bucherer certainly has some impact on brands and is powerful enough to have them creating some purpose-designed watches, exclusive to its stores. These watches are named the “Bucherer Blue Editions” and many watch brands already participated (Tudor, IWC, Blancpain and?more). All of them share a unique colour for the dial; blue. While H. Moser already participated in this concept, this time the brand decided to go in a different direction. Not only these 2 new “Moser x?Bucherer Blue Editions” aren’t blue (at least for?their dials) but Moser also introduces a brand new watch, totally different from the brand’s previous creations; the?Heritage – a surprising retro-styled pilot’s watch. The Moser Endeavour Diamonds Bucherer Blue EditionsBefore we move to the watch that will mostly draw your attention, it is to be noted that H. Moser & Cie. has created another piece for Bucherer, a ladies-oriented version of the?Endeavour, with a 38mm stain
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic & Chronograph Black Dials (Specs & Price)
When introduced back in 2016, the redesigned Overseas was Vacheron Constantin’s answer to the highly coveted market of the luxury sports watch (a market dominated by AP and PP). First launched in blue and silver editions, later followed by warm and original brown versions, there was still one missing colour to complete the collection. Problem solved for 2018, with the introduction of the?Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic 4500V and Chronograph 5500V, now with black dials (and even a reversed-panda for the Chrono). If blue is the most prevalent colour on luxury sports watches (dark blue was the inaugural tone used on the precursors of this new market, the Royal Oak and the Nautilus), black is certainly another option that perfectly fits the idea of a sports watch. Elegant, discreet, contrasted and easy to match, black is sort of an inevitable choice – and usually, a “you can’t go wrong” choice too. Several options have been introduced already for the two
