Collector's Series - @nopstar83 and his Audemars Piguet 25734OR
Today we'll be talking with a collector from the other side of the world – that's the beauty of collecting these days, there are no borders anymore. His alias @Nopstar83 on Instagram may be familiar to you, since his posts of wristshots with (mainly) Audemars Piguet watches truly attract the attention! We spoke to the 38-year old watch fan, who works in IT in Singapore, about one of his favourite watches – an Audemars Piguet, as you'd expect from him, but not your typical Royal Oak. Instead, we'll be talking about a rare and very special watch, the Edward Piguet Ultra-thin Skeleton Quantieme Perpetuel in rose gold reference 25734OR.Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME – How did you get so interested in Audemars Piguet?@Nopstar83 – I got into luxury watches more than 10 years ago, in my first job in the IT industry. Chopard?L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Jumping Hour - Hands-On Review, Price
We, at MONOCHROME, see hundreds of watches a year, and I'm no exception to the rule. And of course, we all have our preferences regarding which watches we believe are special. Case in point today, as I had been eager to be able to get my hands on this new L.U.C watch since it was announced during the 2021 edition of Watches & Wonders. Let's take a closer look.Alongside its impeccable watchmaking credentials, the singularity of the L.U.C collection lies in a distinctive perception of elegance. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard, has always given the watches of this collection an understated, elegant twist. Released on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Chopard Manufacture, the beautifully ex
Chopard L.U.C Louis-Ulysse - The Tribute - Monochrome Watches
There has been a much publicized concern within the watch industry about over reliance on one or two key suppliers of components. Some companies have addressed this by purchasing their own case makers, developing their own movements and seeking greater independence.?Chopard, the family owned concern, has sought vertical integration, with virtually all components being made in- house.?I recently toured one of their production facilities in Meyrin on the outskirts of Geneva. The breadth of skills within the company is staggering. They even have their own foundry where ingots of precious metals for case making are formed! Several of the watches bear the Poin?on de Geneve, the Hallmark of Genev
Ulysse Nardin Freak S Limited Edition 2022 (Live Pics, Price)
The launch of the Ulysse Nardin Freak in 2001 shook up the watch world. This disruptive avant-garde masterpiece smashed all conventions and pioneered the use of silicon in this industry Over the past 20 years, the model evolved in many directions. But this horological UFO has always followed the same guiding principle of being a laboratory on the wrist. Presented on the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2022, the Ulysse Nardin Freak S is very much a Freak offspring. Yet, it further propels the model into tri-dimensional space-age watchmaking, with its starship design and two out-of-this-world inclined oscillators reminding of turboprops.?Over the past 20 years, the Freak has been an extraordinary laboratory for experimentation and innovation at Ulysse Nardin, leading to countless developments. Several of Ulysse Nardin's innovative escapements and oscillators were born inside the Freak, like the crazy InnoVision 2 Presented on the occasion of Watches and Wonders 2022, the new Freak S inte
