Womens Watch Wednesday - A. Lange & Sohne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase Hands-On (Specs & Price)
It wouldn’t be fair of me to write this review without stating upfront that this brand is one of my all-time favourites for a host of reasons that run the gamut from history to craftsmanship and more. Still, I refused to let that cloud my judgment as I was wearing the Little Lange 1 Moon Phase watch, an elegant and slightly different conception of Haute-Horlogerie for Ladies. Background Ad - Scroll to continue with article A. Lange & Sohne is undeniably one of the premier German watch brands on the market today. With roots dating back to 1846, the brand's incredible watchmaking ended abruptly during World War II with the expropriation of the company by the government. It was not until after the collapse of the Berlin Wall in November 1989, that Walter A. Lange, the great-grandson of Ferdinand Adolf Lange, seized the opportunity to revive the German watc
Introducing: The Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time 5524G is Back with an Ivory Lacquered Dial
Vintage pilot watches have soared in popularity with remakes of legitimate aviator watches by historical brands and look-alikes by countless others. However, when Patek Philippe introduced its Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524 during Baselworld 2015, it caught everybody off guard. Presented in white gold with a blue dial and pushers on the left, the Travel Time, as its name indicates, is fitted with a practical tool for pilots in the form of a sophisticated dual time complication. Discontinued earlier this year, Patek returns with another white gold version with identical specs but flaunting a new ivory lacquered dial, under the reference 5524G-010.The turbulence surrounding the release of Ref. 5524 in 2015 was partly because not many people were aware of Patek’s chapter in pilot watches. While the brand attributes some of the design features of the 5524 to its 1936 hour angle or siderometer watches, these historical models never led to a pilot’s watch collection per se
Tudor Pelagos LHD 25610TNL Left-Handed - Review (Live Photos, Price)
After several collections based on the Heritage Black Bay, Tudor Watches gets back into the game of the rugged, professional-oriented and modern watches with a new version of its tool watch: the Pelagos. After a first version introduced in 2012, with a black dial, followed by a revamp in 2015, with the addition of a blue dial and the introduction of the manufacture movement, the Pelagos is back again, this time in a variation that worthy of the title “the coolest”. Please say hello to the Tudor Pelagos LHD 25610TNL, or the lefty version with cream indexes and red “Pelagos” printing. The concept of the left-handed watch isn’t new to Tudor. This?Tudor Pelagos LHD is a actually a nod to the past, paying tribute to a watch made for the French navy in 1961, the Tudor 9401 left-hand, with a black dial and snowflake hands (you can see the link already…). Back then some of the left-handed divers reported issues when wearing the watch on their left arm and so
First Look: The New Ulysse Nardin Freak ONE Navy Blue
Introduced in 2001, Ulysse Nardin's Freak watch turned many watchmaking conventions upside down. With no hands, no dial and no crown, the Freak was powered by an in-line movement pivoting on itself every 60 minutes to indicate the time. It was regulated by a dual direct escapement and introduced the watchmaking world to silicium (aka silicon). Following countless iterations over its 23-year lifespan, the Freak ONE introduced last year is a throwback to the first Freak watch designed and produced in the here and now. The result is one of the most attractive, well-proportioned and wearable editions of this horological legend. The latest Freak ONE Navy Blue plays with different materials and dons a navy blue rotating hour disc, a colour that recalls the brand's historical maritime ties as a producer of marine chronometers. The Freak ONE Navy Blue continues the trajectory established by the first Freak One in a black DLC-coated titanium case and a rose gold bezel, and the Freak ONE Ops with
Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer Manufacture - Monaco Limited Edition - Monochrome Watches
Ulysse Nardin has a long history in watchmaking and that has led to several iconic timepieces. Take for instance the Freak, that is undeniable an icon in watchmaking history. The (Maxi) Marine Chronometer is maybe less iconic in watchmaking history, but is at least as iconic for the brand, as it’s Ulysse Nardin’s best sold model. This model only gained in importance now it’s being equipped with Ulysse Nardin’s in-house movement, caliber UN-118,that was introduced last year. Shortly for the Monaco Yacht Show, Ulysse Nardin celebrates being the official sponsor for the fifth consecutive year, with Monaco Limited Edition. The Monaco Yacht Show is from 25 – 28 September and ends with the Only Watch auction, that we told you about yesterday (click here) and many times before that. The Monaco LE is limited to 100 engraved and numbered pieces. With a diameter of 43 mm it is actually based on the normal Marine Chronometer Manufacture 43, that is also equipped with
