Horologically, the new year gets started with the LVMH Watch Week 2023 in Singapore, where Bulgari, TAG Heuer, Hublot and Zenith join forces to present some of their novelties. It was the perfect opportunity for MONOCHROME to interview Antoine Pin, Managing Director of the Bulgari Watch Division, and discover all the new models that the watchmaker/jeweller presented and what to expect for the upcoming year.Note: This interview was conducted in Switzerland a few days before the event. Chopard Redlines with the New Superfast Collection - Monochrome Watches
Anyone who has hit the RPM limiter while pressed back into a bucket seat, anyone who has done the pedal dance of heel and toe, anyone who snapped the rear end, Z rated tires screaming and the muffler thundering, anyone who has done these things knows what it means to go fast.Chopard knows what it means to go Superfast. As ubiquitous as racing legends Prost, Senna, or Schumacher are to the sport of Formula One, Chopard aspires to be to auto racing in general and takes top spot on the podium, champagne spewing in victory as they introduce a new Classic Racing line with three models, the Superfast Auto, Chrono and Power Control. Sleek, sophisticated and sporty, the Superfast line recalls motorsports at every turn (see our weekly watch photo). Made to dominate Spa-Francorchamps' Eau Rouge turn in the rain or attend such daydreams, the Superfast watches unite the thrill of racing with the art of horology. H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Black Golden Edition - Monochrome-Watches
When saw the first pre-Baselworld release of the H. Moser Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Black, we were impressed and felt there would be a huge interest in it within the watch-world. Both the photos and technical specifications attracted us. This feeling was confirmed once we get?our hands on with it during Baselworld.?The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar was one of the few watches that created a real consensus among Monochrome’s editorial team. The brand Schaffausen (alongside IWC) comes now with a new limited edition of its QP, even more precious, the H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Black Golden.?H. Moser & Cie knows how to make simple watches complicated, such as the Venturer Small Second, but also how to impart simplicity to a highly complicated timepiece. The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar is certainly one of the simplest, if not the simplest QP on the market. It comes with only a few functions on the dial and keeps the reading focused on essential indications:
Hands-On Piaget Polo S Automatic Green-and-Gold Limited Edition
Presented in 2016, the Polo S is Piaget's take on the steel luxury watch. Infused with 1970s vibes, this versatile timepiece is evocative of the category's icons but also displays a clear lineage with the Piaget Emperador, one of the brand's most recognizable designs. For 2020, the collection welcomes an attractive version with green dial and rose gold indices, fitted with a steel bracelet.Besides the steel bracelet, the eye-catching green dial is the main novelty and attraction of this new iteration of the Piaget Polo S. If the colour is not new – as can be seen here – the applied indices, hands and the frame of the date window are now rendered in rose gold. Both original and subtle, this new dial is embossed with the signature striped pattern of the collection. The green surface stands out with beautiful changing colours and striking metallic reflections – thanks to the colour obtained by PVD coating. The contrasting white markings ensure perfect legibility. Just li
Hands-On: A True Surprise of Only Watch 2023, The Furlan Marri Secular Perpetual Calendar
You probably know?Furlan Marri?already. Founded in 2021 by Andrea Furlan (Swiss industrial designer) and Hamad Al Marri (watch collector and artist from the Middle East), it started as a crowdfunded project on Kickstarter. The first watch, a handsome vintage-inspired mechaquartz chronograph, made quite some noise. The second model, an automatic time-only this time, gathered some attention again with its cool design. But up until now, we’ve been looking at carefully designed watches for sure, but in an accessible price range. Things are changing and the two men have been moving faster than anyone imagined. Even if still a unique prototype offered for charity auction Only Watch 2023, the next watch is playing in a far higher category.?Co-developed with Dominique Renaud and Julien Tixier, we’re talking about?an ultra-simplified, modular secular perpetual calendar, with a?single adjustment once every 400 years. Now that’s what we call a surprising move.?Secular calendar
