Introducing Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 15202IP - Titanium, Smoked Blue Dial (SIHH 2018)
As the modern incarnation of the very first luxury-sports watch created in 1972, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 15202 needs no introduction anymore. Its octagonal shape, its screwed bezel, its integrated chain-like bracelet, its extra-thin automatic movement, its finely guilloched blue dial… Everything in this watch is iconic. Well, for the SIHH 2018, there’s a new version, and don’t be fooled by the familiar look, it has many more secrets than you might first expect. Please meet the?Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin 15202IP – and yes it is titanium and it has a?superb and unprecedented smoked blue dial. While we’re not going to retell the whole story again – most already know the history behind the creation of the 1972 Royal Oak, as the first example of a luxury-sports watch – it is good to mention that the Ref. 15202 is the most faithful iteration of AP’s icon currently in the collection. It is based on the same 39mm case as the
Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT for Revolution & The Rake - Monochrome Watches
2019 marked the year that the world's thinnest chronograph title passed from the hands of one horological master to another. Italian watchmaker Bvlgari had many firsts under its belt up until last year, yet the slimmest chronograph was not one of them. Piaget took that title in 2015 and held onto it right up until the release of the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph in 2019 with its 6.90mm case. Now, the new Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT for Revolution & The Rake follows in the footsteps of last year's Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT, but with a couple of updates in the form of its luminous dial and an additional tachymeter scale. The timepiece is created exclusively for online luxury watch magazine Revolution and luxury e-commerce menswear company The Rake.Bvlgari first considered itself a serious contender in thin watch manufacture back in 2014. The Roman watchmaker began competing for ultra-thin complications with the 5mm thin Octo Finissimo Tourbillon, followed by the
Pre SIHH 2015: The new IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic - Monochrome Watches
Shortly before Christmas, and also shortly before the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie starts. This means that we get to show you more novelties, and today we get to show you the newest IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic: a?classically styled, hand-wound, dress watch. Although that might sound boring for some, we suggest to take a closer look because it’s an IWC, and there some typical IWC ingredients as well.IWC’s Portofino collection?is a clean, simple and lovely balanced collection. No loud colours, no crazy design. However the size of pretty much all models in this collection was quite… manly. The diameter of most all models are?42mm or 45mm,?except?the Portofino Automatic that measures a modest 40mm in diameter. Just a few months ago IWC added no less than?20 new models?of more discrete dimensions?that comprise both Portofino Automatic models (40mm) and a new mid-size models that measure 36mm. The newest addition to the collection is the IWC Portofin
Hands-On - Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WorldTime (Specs & Price)
A welcome addition to the collection, the Polaris is Jaeger-LeCoultre's vision of an elegant sports watch. The collection was launched at the SIHH 2018, 50 years after the original and iconic Polaris Memovox – read our introductory article here. Among a full range of timepieces, the Chronograph WT is the largest and the most technical version, offering travellers a practical world time function. Today we take a close look at this version that combines a column-wheel chronograph and a traveller's complication. On this Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WT, at the periphery of the twin-register chronograph, a ring displays 24 cities representing 24 times zones and allows you to read the time simultaneously in any area. For cities switching between standard and daylight-saving time according to seasons, a white triangle highlights this one-hour difference. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in 18k Rose Gold
Back in 2019, Vacheron Constantin introduced a tourbillon to the Overseas collection. Its stainless steel case and vivid blue dial held the self-winding ultra-thin Calibre 2160 inside. Now the manufacturer unveils an 18k rose gold version and since going through a major uplift back in 2016, the Overseas now offers some really nice features like its interchangeable strap system and a slim 10.39mm-thick case. The new 18K rose gold Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon watch is a 42.5mm model with a translucent blue lacquered dial executed with a sunburst satin-finished surface, surrounded by a velvet-finished flange. This particular shade of blue was chosen as a flagship colour that recalled watch dials of the 1950s and 60s. The model, still dedicated to travellers, maintains its distinct aesthetic with an instantly recognisable six-sided bezel evoking the company's Maltese Cross symbol. The bevelled edges on the case and integrated bracelet remain faithful to the Overseas' sporty tempe
