The latest newcomer to the watchmaking game is Reiser Watches, soon launching its first collection: the Reiser Alpen Date.Reiser Watches is a new startup watch company and is launched by Hicham Biktat, a 33-year-old Dutchman. Starting as a businessman at 18, he found himself at a crossroads when he became a new dad. In 2019 his son was born, and despite being a successful entrepreneur, this pushed him into another direction altogether. Industry Omega Raises its Warranty to 5 Years on all Watches
Following the trend for more services, more clarity and more security, Omega just announced it will now offer a 5-year warranty on all newly purchased watches – with immediate effect. Until now, the Omega warranty was different depending on the type of products – up to 4 years on Master Chronometer watches, compared to a traditional 2-year warranty in the industry (which was the warranty offered, as of now, on the Speedmaster Moonwatch, for instance).In 2015, Omega raised industry standards with the introduction of the Master Chronometer certification. Thanks to this new process, each watch is tested enduring stringent tests approved by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). The identity kit of the Master Control collection is a mix of technical rigour with stylistic restraint, drawing on inspiration from classic round timepieces made by Jaeger-Le Coultre in the 1950s. Not perhaps the sexiest name for a collection, JLC's Master Control refers to the fact that this collection was the first to undergo the brand's pioneering “1,000 Hour” control certification. Thirty years have passed since the introduction of the Master Control and two limited-edition models from the collection, the Master Control Date and Master Control Calendar, break away from the classic silver dials and appear with new blue faces.Two years ago, the Master Control collection underwent a subtle evolution to modernise the 40mm case of all its models with a thinner sloping bezel. Introducing: The Sleeker yet Colourful Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 40mm
Alongside the green and terracotta Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 housed in a 40mm case with a sleek, polished bezel instead of the classic coin-edge design, Oris also introduces a trio of new, simpler versions of its emblematic watch. And while these lack the high-performance Calibre 403 movement and replace it with a Sellita engine, these Oris Big Crown Pointer Date models make up for it with vibrant dial colours and new bracelets at a more accessible price point. Like the Calibre 403 variant, the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date watches feature a 40mm stainless steel case with a 47.5mm lug-to-lug measurement and 50m water resistance. The brand that started life in Havana, Cuba, in 1882 and winged its way across the Atlantic to resettle in Capolago, a tiny Swiss village on the shores of Lake Lugano, proposes a double moon phase indication to reveal the cycles of the Moon in both Hemispheres. Staged against an anthracite dial with golden touches, the day, date and month are also featured on the dial. Playing on the brand's Havana links, the functions are housed inside the brand's vintage-inspired Historiador case with its prominent lugs and showy black and gilt dial.This is not the first moon phase and full calendar watch in the Historiador collection. Last year we saw a similar watch, the Luna Negra, with a partially skeletonised dial but limited to moon phases in the Northern Hemisphere.
