Introducing the AP Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon 26730
If you were to ask anyone to describe a typical Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, you would most likely hear elements like the octagonal case/bezel, integrated bracelet, and a blue Tapisserie dial. And they’d be right, of course, but the APRO can be much more than that. Signified as the granddaddy of the luxury sports watch, penned by industry legend Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is one of the most popular watches ever made. Over time, many iterations have come and gone, but every now and then Audemars Piguet manages to change it up to such an extent it feels fresh and exciting all over again. Such is the case with two new and quietly launched versions of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon 26730, in white or rose gold with dimple dials. We’ve seen it numerous times over the past year; watch brands not communicating on new releases, silently updating the collection on the website, and calling it a day. It happened with the Omega CK 859 for instance, but also w
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso with Red Lacquered Dial fetches record price - Monochrome Watches
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches hit record prices at?Antiquorum auction in Geneva, that was held last week. One that particularly tickled us, is the stainless steel Reverso with red lacquer dial. It was sold for CHF 50,000 !!?This Reverso with red lacquered dial is the predecessor of this years JLC novelty, the new Grande Reverso Tribute to 1931 Rouge. Last year the French auction house Artcurial sold a Reverso with red lacquered dial for € 28,000 Euro and another was sold for CHF 35,000 in May last year by Antoquorum. Ad - Scroll to continue with article It looks like vintage models of the JLC Reverso are seriously gaining value and I’m curious whether this rise is lasting. Of course vintage Sports models and Patek Philippe complicated watches are a sure thing for fetching extreme high prices. This seems quite restricted to these brands, like the same Antiquor
Hands-On - the 2020 Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Memovox
Alerts, beeps, bings, vibrations and buzzing sounds are the bane of 21st-century technological gadgets. Whether it's a wake-up tone, an incoming email, a Whatsapp message or a reminder to walk more steps, we are bombarded by acoustic signals 24/7. For those of you pining for the simpler days when a spade was called a spade, and you didn't have 1,500 contacts in your phone, Jaeger-LeCoultre's Memovox will strike a chord. Actually, a hammer to be precise. Launched in 1950, the Memovox is a mechanical alarm wristwatch that still delights watch lovers today. In June 2020, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled two Master Control Memovox models: a limited edition Memovox Timer and the Memovox time & date model. Although the nostalgia for the first 1950s Memovox models has been respected, the aesthetic upgrades executed on the Master Control case give the watch a more contemporary air. The movement has also benefitted from a comprehensive revision, and the incorporation of a sapphire caseback means t

On the new models these Arabic numerals are slightly smaller, and therefore the design seems more bal
Petrolhead Corner: After F1 and P1 Comes W1, Says McLaren
In the 1990s, the legendary McLaren F1 went up against the equally iconic Ferrari F40 and Porsche 959. In the early 2010s, the P1 took on the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. Now though, for the time being at least, McLaren has the playing field all to its own, as it just launched the all-new W1, the first entry in the upcoming revamp of the hypercar-holy-trinity! Of course, there are others, such as Koenigsegg and Pagani, but the three-way brawl between McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche is considered the most epic showdown in the upper echelons of the industry. All three ushered in a new era of electrified high-performance engineering and were the pinnacle of what the three brands had to offer in terms of technology and innovation. The McLaren W1 however, seeks to rewrite the rulebook again and packs no less than 1,275 horsepower, which is sent to the rear wheels only! The W1 alongside its predecessors, the P1 and F1.There’s an unexpected problem though; the W1 is not the fas
