Audemars Piguet Millenary Frosted Gold Philosophique - Review, Price
The new Audemars Piguet Millenary Frosted Gold Philosophique challenges the conventional way of reading time with just one hand for the hours and minutes. Clearly not a watch for people obsessed with chronometer-grade precision, time is meant to be read approximately, give or take a few minutes here and there. Original and bristling with unusual textures and finishes, the Millenary Philosophique sports a new automatic movement and comes in two versions: 18k pink gold with a brown dial and 18k white gold with a blue dial. Let’s have a look at this unusual and poetical timepiece.ProvenanceThe distinguishing feature of Audemars Piguet's Millenary collection is its oval-shaped case. Introduced in 1995, it originally catered for men and women alike but since 2015 only features women's models in the line-up. With its generous case size of 39.5mm, the Millenary has become something of a showcase for creativity, artisanal skills and unconventional, off-centred dials often exposing parts

In-Depth: Piaget, The Art of Ultra-Thin Watchmaking and Miniaturization
Piaget is world-famous for its vibrant creations in the field of watches and jewellery. In this video, we are taking a look at an important yet sometimes lesser-known side of the brand: its expertise in the field of movement creation and manufacturing. Everything started in the small village of La C?te-aux-Fees in the Swiss Jura mountains, where Georges Edouard Piaget set up his workshop in 1874. There, G.E. Piaget made a name for himself first focusing on escapements and then manufacturing parts and movements, even before crafting his own watches. Since then, Piaget has remained one of the few brands to design and manufacture movements in-house. Among countless calibres created and crafted by the brand, legendary extra-thin movements immediately come to mind. But Piaget also manufactured all types of complications and even quartz movements! If it would be hard to list every movement manufactured by Piaget, we are going to take a look at some of the brand's milestones, including a few
Independent Haute Horlogerie vs. the 'BIG Names' part 2 - Monochrome Watches
Independent watchmakers and the ‘BIG name’ brands are very different. Yet they all aim for the same goal, which is making (and selling) beautiful watches. In a series of articles i will share some?observations and thoughts. In my first chronicle about Independent Watchmakers & the ‘BIG name’ brands I wrote about the difference in reputation and the role of marketing. The ‘BIG names’ usually have a name that is well known to most people, especially among watch collectors. Not only a long history plays a role in this, also huge marketing budgets helps relatively new-comers to build a reputation very fast.Just take a look at these ads of Omega and Patek Philippe. They look familiar, don’t they? You have probably seen them in numerous magazines. And advertising in print media is expensive! Ad - Scroll to continue with article
