Omega Constellation Manhattan Co-Axial Master Chronometer 29mm - Review, Price
Let's face it, there aren't that many women's watches out there that can be worn day in, day out in just about any environment. Either they are beautiful dress watches with luxurious details that require extra-special care or they are downsized versions of men's sports watches. Striking a balance between a sporty, resilient watch that is elegant enough to transition from the tennis court to a cocktail party is no easy feat. Omega responds to this particular segment with its Constellation Manhattan collection.Recently refreshed in 2018, the Manhattan is a mix of luxurious elements combined with a robust case, an integrated bracelet, double chronometer certification and anti-magnetic properties. Could this model be the perfect daily beater for women? Today we'll be taking a closer look at the Constellation Manhattan 29mm model in steel and Sedna gold. It might be small, but I can assure you it is packed to the gills with refined finishes and the highest anti-magnetic credentials out ther
The Chopard Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon Lucent Steel
In 2019, Chopard entered the crowded field of integrated sports watches with the Alpine Eagle. The Alpine Eagle drew inspiration from the St. Moritz of 1980, Chopard's first integrated bracelet watch. The time-and-date Alpine Eagle was followed up with the sporty Alpine Eagle XL Chrono in 2020 and the limited-edition high-frequency Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF in 2021. The collection now welcomes the Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon, the first model in the collection to bear the Poin?on de Geneve.?The Alpine Eagle Flying Tourbillon shares the same shape as the base Alpine Eagle, which means that it has a 41mm wide tonneau-style case with a round bezel held in place with eight screws and distinctive ears on each side of the watch. The tops of both the case and the bezel are vertically brushed, whereas the flanking elements are in high polish. Thanks to the micro-rotor automatic calibre inside, the case has been slimmed down in comparison to the time-only model, down to 8mm from 9.7mm. Additio
The History Of The IWC Da Vinci - From 1969 to 2017
Over several decades?of existence, the IWC Da Vinci has drastically evolved and has seen dozens of versions and style. Yet, even if this watch is certainly not as popular as the Portugeiser or the Big Pilot’s Watch, it has been a playing?field for multiple innovations and milestones for the brand. Before we go hands-on with the latest version of the Da Vinci, in what we think is the key model of the 2017 collection, the Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, as a tribute to the famous 1985 watch created by legend Kurt Klaus, a short history of the IWC Da Vinci could be more than useful, a story that has been eventful, innovative, sometimes unloved, sometimes iconic. The early Days of the IWC Da VinciEverything started in 1969, with the very first IWC Da Vinci, equipped with the infamous Beta 21 quartz movement. Indeed,?IWC was?involved in the development of the Beta 21, a wristwatch calibre with quartz control (frequency 8192 hertz). This first edition, the Da Vinci Quartz Electronic (re
Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition - Diving Chronograph Review, Price
Forget about the usual suspects that are , Omega, Blancpain or Seiko. The world of dive watches is full of surprises, of smaller brands that are to be considered hidden gems… And when you start to dig into the archives of the dive watch history and forget about mainstream models, there are some fascinating vintage watches to discover. Such an example is the Aquastar Deepstar, a watch that I rediscovered when publishing a vintage column. The kind of watch you secretly wish to see coming back. And earlier this year, it did make its return. Having covered the launch of the 2020 Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition, I wanted to experience it in the metal. So, diving suit on, scuba tank charged, let’s look at it.?Aquastar…?As said, the dive watch industry in the 1960s was pro-li-fic. While a wider audience will have in mind the classics – Submariner, Seamaster, Fifty Fathoms – there were countless smaller brands building dive watches, assembling parts from suppliers t
History of the Patek Philippe Calatrava Part 3 - Major Modern Models - Monochrome Watches
Today we conclude our three-part series on the Patek Philippe Calatrava with a look at the present-day models currently available from the brand. After reading Part. 1 (focussing on the very first model of the collection, the reference 96) and Part. 2 (the most important vintage models), I'm sure you will agree that the humble Calatrava is one of the most iconic dress watches of all time and has played a significant role in shaping the entire dress watch category. Incredibly, its underlying design has remained largely unchanged since its introduction in 1932, some 85 years ago. While it's true we've seen many variations over the years, the fundamentals have always remained the same, which is great news for vintage enthusiasts and new buyers alike.According to the official Patek Philippe website, there are 21 different Calatrava models currently available for men (this includes different metals and excludes complicated models), however, the “Calatrava” section on the PP webs
