A one-of-two Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe breaks records
In the world of classic cars, there's expensive and then there's Ferrari-expensive. Or at least, there was Ferrari-expensive because as of now it seems that a 1956 Mercedes-Benz has set the new all-time record for the most expensive car in the world. Where in the what, who and how has this happened? Well, Mercedes-Benz themselves have apparently sold one of only two 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupes ever made, both still in existence and owned by the company itself until now, for a monumental 135 MILLION euros. Take that, Ferrari! If you go through the list of most expensive cars ever sold, directly from one owner to the next or through auctions, multiple records have been set in the past 8 or 9 years. As prices from classic cars have skyrocketed, there's one brand that pretty much dominates, and that's of course none other than Ferrari. Out of the 11 most expensive cars listed by Hagerty, only 4 are not by the fabled Italian carmaker, including the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe we’

Introducing: The Titanium IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XX Patrouille Suisse
Sitting alongside the very big Big Pilot (the real deal for many) and the less big Big Pilot 43 in the range of IWC’s Pilot watches, the Mark XX is the latest generation of a watch that is the true essence of a tool for aviators, in a reasonable size. A watch with great pedigree, which can trace its origins back to the Dirty Dozen and the early Mark series, it’s been modernized and updated over and over since the 1990s to become the current Mark XX, available up until now in stainless steel only. But today, IWC released what’s surely the best-looking version of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX so far, a model paying tribute to the Patrouille Suisse. What matters? A full matte titanium case and a monochromatic look. And in the long Mark lineage, this should sound familiar…Discreetly presented in 2022, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX is the latest version of a watch that has been available to the public since the early 1990s – with the Mark XII – bu
Hands-On IWC Big Pilot's Watch Monopusher Le Petit Prince IW515202
Launched in 2002 and inspired by a 1940s B-Uhr watch, IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch is a champion of the aviator’s watch. In a clear display of the flight path set for its Big Pilot’s family, in 2013, IWC Schaffhausen sealed its relationship with the delightful protagonist of Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s “Le Petit Prince” with a spectacular Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar. Surprisingly, and despite the presence of even more complicated models like the Big Pilot’s Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon and even a Constant-Force Tourbillon, there was a fundamental complication missing from the collection: a chronograph. Today, IWC unveils the first chronograph in the Big Pilot’s collection with the thematic colour and features we associate with “Le Petit Prince” models. To respect the spirit of the Big Pilot, IWC has chosen a monopusher chronograph with a push-button integrated into the distinctive conical crown. A limited editi
Hands on: The Nivada Grenchen Chronosport
Returning to the scene in 2020 with Guillaume Laidet at the helm, Nivada Grenchen had plenty of tricks up its sleeve thanks to its rich repertoire of mid-20th-century tool watches. Reviving some of its most famous models –? the Chronomaster, the Depthmaster, or the Super Antarctic – Nivada Grenchen has gained a cult following among fans of vintage revivals that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. However, the Chronosport we'll be looking at today is a true rarity that never made it into full-scale production. A multipurpose instrument with chronograph functions and 200m water-resistance, the Chronosport, which surfaced as a prototype in the early 1970s, has provided the blueprint for its 21st-century revival.Founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider in Granges, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first watch brands to produce automatic watches in 1930. It introduced its first automatic waterproof model, the Antarctic, in 1950. If you are interested in the brand's history, Brice's a
