Attending The Inaugural Bulgari B. Dinner In Rome, And Re-Discovering the Superb Octo Collection - Monochrome Watches
A few weeks ago, luxury Italian brand, Bulgari, in conjunction with our friends at Watchonista, hosted a fun event simply called The B. Dinner in Rome. The idea was to bring together a group of watch enthusiasts (writers, photographers, collectors, etc.) from around Europe and introduce them to Bulgari's Rome. The Eternal City is, after all, the spiritual and physical home of the brand and as such a great source of inspiration for its designs. What followed was an immensely enjoyable experience that was far more insightful than I think anyone was expecting. The guests of the B. Buying Guide: Five Salmon Watches To Satisfy Your Horological Appetite
“Guess what? I got a fever… and the only prescription is more Salmon Dials!” It could be our horological equivalent of SNL’s famous “More Cowbell!” sketch with Christopher Walken. If you don’t know what that is, I strongly urge you to Google it and then come back here to continue reading. Regardless, it’s no secret the MONOCHROME Editorial Team has a strong love for dials in copper, pink-gold, salmon or whatever tone you want to call it. Heck, even our first Montre de Souscription had a salmon-coloured dial! So you can understand, we get a little bit more excited when a new salmon-toned watch comes along, as opposed to classical black, silver or blue. Case in point: the Chopard L.U.C. Lunar One that kicks off this tasty Buying Guide. Whip out your soy sauce and chopsticks, as we have some finely sliced horological salmon sashimi lined up to whet your appetite!Chopard L.U.C. The watch we’re looking at today certainly wasn’t Patek Philippe‘s main novelty of 2019. If you want some fresh, truly unprecedented pieces, you’ll have to look at the Calatrava Weekly Calendar 5212A, the Alarm Travel Time 5520P or the (superb) Chronograph 5172G. And so what?… Can’t we just enjoy a new edition of an existing watch, especially when it’s a Chronograph Annual Calendar and that now comes in one hell of a beautiful colour combination? Well, we can and here’s a look at the pink gold/brown dial Patek Philippe Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R.BackgroundTo understand where the Chronograph Annual Calendar 5905R comes from, a bit of history is required. This watch is the last evolution of a model that sums up what Patek does best: calendar chronographs! Certainly, most of us will have in mind the ultimate combo, the QP-Chrono, a lineage started in 1941 with the reference 1518, followed by the references 2499, 3970, 5970 and 5270. S
Baltic x Peter Auto Tricompax Special Edition - Hands-On, Price
From what used to be a young microbrand launched on Kickstarter, Baltic has now become a far more established brand, creating more mature models with serious design… and often a well-controlled vintage twist.
