Creux Automatiq Sports Luxury Watch Review (Specs & Price)
One of the major trends for?2016 has been the arrival of new-comers to?the market – new brands, created?from scratch, mainly driven by?crowd-funding (see all those affordable “Kickstarter” campaigns), with some of them showing highly interesting concepts. This trend will most definitely continue in 2017, believe us. However, most of these new projects are focused?on affordable, non-Swiss-Made watches – something that we do?not necessarily dislike here at Mono but a bit of good-old Helvetic quality is always welcomed. With that in mind,?here is the?Creux Automatiq Watch, a clever play on the luxury sports watch concept, Swiss-Made, qualitative, yet an affordable alternative?to certain well-known luxury watches you?might have in mind. The story behind?Creux AutomatiqCreux Automatiq was formed by?the minds behind the luxury diamond jewellery specialists known as Culet Jewellery, a company based in Sydney, Australia.?Dane Rumble, watch enthusiast and owner of?Culet J
Hanhart Pioneer Monocontrol - The epitome of Coolness - Full Review (history, live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
One of the most enduring traits in the watch industry in recent years is the New-retro design. This principle is the tendency to create something new that is not exactly new but rather follows the past. This industrial/marketing strategy balances in most cases innovation and tradition. The historical heritage of a product is fused with new materials and modern construction in order to create something desirable which possess a different aura, perhaps more refined and romantic. As everything in life, this strategy has its pros and cons while we can often witness companies trying to create a product of this kind out of thin air. In our case we will review a very important military chronograph with unmistakable originality. Almost every watch company today has an offering of a pilot’s chronograph. However, few designs have the pedigree of the one we will review. Hanhart is a company that still produces its iconic flieger chronographs with modern materials and calibres, thus potentia
IWC Big Pilots Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition IW510506 (Specs & Price)
Last year, when unveiling its new pilot’s collection at the SIHH 2019, IWC also announced its partnership with a very cool project named “The Longest Flight”. On 5 August 2019, British pilots Matt Jones and Steve Boultbee Brooks embarked on their flight around the world in an antique, restored Spitfire plane. This was the occasion for IWC to unveil a dedicated timepiece, the Timezoner Spitfire Edition “The Longest Flight”. And now that the mission is accomplished and the world tour completed, the brand introduces the IWC Big Pilot's Watch Big Date Spitfire Edition “Mission Accomplished” Ref. IW510506, a new edition true to the design codes introduced with the new Spitfire collection. On their record-breaking journey in the “Silver Spitfire”, the two founders of the Boultbee Flight Academy covered almost 43,000 kilometres in four months, visiting over 20 countries on their way. Having been the primary partner and official timekeeper o
COLUMN - An Apple by any other name is a Moser? A look at the H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Watch - Monochrome Watches
The definition of Irish Alzheimer's is when all you can remember are your grudges. Some people just won't let things go; they develop a grudge and carry it around morning, noon and night. It seems that in their own tongue-in-cheek way, H. Moser & Cie (the present-day David of the watch industry) is about to cast a few stones jewels at Goliath! And here,?the stones?jewels that David hide in his pockets are named the?H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alp Watch. An Idyllic LandscapeEverything in the watch industry was going so well. There was a chronometer on every wrist and a tourbillon on every wish list. Then along comes Apple. First they introduced an iPod so small that it was virtually useless as a device to play music on and only found its true calling in life when someone put it on a NATO strap and displayed the time on it. Several years (and billions of dollars in R&D) later we have the Apple Watch. You can't actually do' anything with it - but it will tell the time and let you know
Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC - Review, Specs & Price
Travel watches, along with blue dials and vintage aesthetics, are all the rage these days. With the advent of globalisation, GMT/UTC watches are no longer the exclusive domain of jet-setters and Pan Am pilots. Today, a wider audience of frequent flyers – and people with business interests or friends dotted around the world – are taking an interest in watches that can give them two distinct time references at a single glance. When it comes to adjusting local and home time on GMT watches, few can beat the practicality and simplicity of the Porsche Design 1919 Globetimer UTC. Unlike so many GMT models that need adjusting at the crown or via correctors, the Globetimer offers travellers a simple, intuitive way to set the local time and dons the sleek, minimalist Porsche Design aesthetic many have come to love. Released during Baselworld 2019 in four different versions, we got to spend some hands-on time with the titanium model and brown dial.Taking the hassle out of adjusting th
