First Look: The All-Blue Bulgari Octo Finissimo x Laurent Grasso Edition
Ten years ago, Bulgari's launch of the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon spearheaded the Italian brand’s march across the watchmaking landscape, razing records in the battle for ultra-thin movements/watches. Currently the holder of nine world records, the Octo Finissimo's incredible mechanical feats are matched by the formidable geometry of its case, securing it a seat in the pantheon of iconic contemporary design. The Octo Finissimo Automatic is the most straightforward model in the lineup and has been the recipient of collaborations with several architects and artists since its launch in 2017 – including Tadao Ando, Kazuyo Sejima or Mo Coppoletta. The latest collaboration is with French conceptual artist Laurent Grasso, who has created a dreamy, iridescent cloud for the dial of the all-blue PVD titanium Octo Finissimo Automatic.Laurent Grasso (1972) plays with ambiguity and mystery, challenging our perceptions of reality. Fascinated with electromagnetic energy and paranormal phen

“There are tools and there are jewels or as we call them the desk divers. Some of them though are so important because upon their inception they transformed the way the industry perceived the construction of the proper divers watch.” This is how our?contributor Ilias defined the Omega?Seamaster Ploprof 1200m, a proper tool watch made to be used by professional divers together with being an important watch for the industry. For baselworld 2015, Omega offers an update to “The Kraken of Diving Watches” by casing the new?Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement into a titanium case and mesh bracelet. What is the Ploprof? To summarize, it is one of the most iconic diving tools ever created, a watch so easily recognizable, a timepiece not made to be elegant but just to perform as best as possible.?It was after all a tool, created by professional divers in order to be used by professional divers – as its name tells: Plo-Prof for Plongeur Profesionnel (professional div
Hands on: The Nivada Grenchen Chronosport
Returning to the scene in 2020 with Guillaume Laidet at the helm, Nivada Grenchen had plenty of tricks up its sleeve thanks to its rich repertoire of mid-20th-century tool watches. Reviving some of its most famous models –? the Chronomaster, the Depthmaster, or the Super Antarctic – Nivada Grenchen has gained a cult following among fans of vintage revivals that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. However, the Chronosport we'll be looking at today is a true rarity that never made it into full-scale production. A multipurpose instrument with chronograph functions and 200m water-resistance, the Chronosport, which surfaced as a prototype in the early 1970s, has provided the blueprint for its 21st-century revival.Founded in 1926 by Jacob Schneider in Granges, Nivada Grenchen was one of the first watch brands to produce automatic watches in 1930. It introduced its first automatic waterproof model, the Antarctic, in 1950. If you are interested in the brand's history, Brice's a
SIHH 2015: Introducing the Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Dual Time - Hands-on withLIVE Photos, Specs and Price - Monochrome Watches
Montblanc keep surprising friend and foe, both with spectacular timepieces, like the ExoTourbillon that we showed you this morning, and with very useful timepieces like the Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Dual Time. Last year Montblanc already surprised every one with a perpetual calendar at the price of € 10k Euro and now they present the Dual Time for below €4k Euro. Again a very competitive price for a very elegant, and very useful timepiece. In these modern times, timepieces with complications like a second time zone or even a worldtimer (like Montblanc’s new Orbis Terrarum) are among our favourites. And there’s a properly good reason for that because these complications can and WILL be used on a daily basis. The new Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Dual Time is part of the Heritage Chronometrie collection, which comprises the new ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph and two new watches with a calendar complication (an annual calendar and a complete calendar.)
