A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Thin Honeygold - Hands-on Review, Price
Part of the trilogy of timepieces to celebrate the 175th anniversary of watchmaking in Glashutte, the 1815 Thin Honeygold Homage to F. A. Lange is, along with the Saxonia Thin, the simplest watch in the brand's line-up. As an anniversary watch, the 1815 Thin is cloaked in Lange's delicious Honeygold. As a member of the 1815 collection that celebrates the year of birth of founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange, the watch honours design elements of F. A. Lange's pocket watches. Limited to 175 pieces, this deceptively simple two-hand watch is embellished with a beautiful white enamel dial and special finishes on the movement.1815 & the Advent of RailwaysThe year 1815 witnessed the Battle of Waterloo, Napoleon's exile to St Helena and the birth of Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Dresden. Why Are Four of The Greatest Icons of Watchmaking Suddenly Being Revamped? - Monochrome Watches
Is this pure coincidence? Indeed, four of the most iconic watches on the market currently are all being revamped within a few months. While it is certainly not new to see brands digging up pieces from their archives for new releases, what's more surprising is to see products with notorious desirability or even waiting lists being discontinued. These highly successful watches are reimagined, while they certainly didn't need to be revamped in order to ensure commercial success. Surely, emblematic models have always evolved to stay relevant. But there is more. Managing availability and exclusivity is key to fuel envy and to create desirability.Managing the life cycle and the availability of such products is fundamental. Scarcity is the foundation of the very notion of luxury. Being – or staying – out of reach is exactly what has made the Patek Philippe Nautilus or 's professional steel watches at the top of the watch food chain for years. “It’s not enough to make
Introducing The Robust Ollech & Wajs OW 8001
Partners Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs started their adventure in watchmaking, distributing Omegas and Breitlings from their watch shop in Zurich. In 1956 they decided to create their own brand specialising in robust tool watches, much appreciated by soldiers, divers and pilots. One of the few companies to ride out the quartz storm by reducing production, after Ollech died in 1992, Wajs renamed the brand OW and eventually sold it in 2017. Faithful to the original portfolio of no-nonsense tool watches powered by reliable third-party Swiss movements, OW has streamlined production by creating a one-size-fits-all 300m water-resistant case. With its well-stocked archive of historical models, OW takes inspiration for its latest three-hand-and-date OW 8001 from a 1973 chronograph with a groovy brown fume dial.A vintage example of the 1973 TV-shaped chronograph that served as an inspiration (but certainly not for a 1-to-1 reissue)In the early 1970s, Ollech & Wajs produced a range of integr

Although bronze cases have become almost mainstream these days, there is one brand they will always be most associated with: Panerai. Building on the legacy of its forebearers, it incorporates the new Submersible design codes unveiled at SIHH 2019 and introduces for the first time a ceramic bezel matched with bronze.Panerai debuted its 47mm bronze behemoth in 2010. Officially named Luminor Submersible 1950 3 Days Automatic Bronzo, this limited-edition model quickly became known by its nickname Bronzo. It arguably also kick-started the trend for bronze watches. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
