The watch that is meant to bring out the gentleman in you. Not only is Carrera Calibre 16 exceptionally charming, but it is also unique and catchy. The mainstream silver bracelet coupled with a black dial but rose gold needle and markers give this watch an out-of-this-world look. How Germany and elegance turned out to be a great formula - Monochrome Watches
If someone says the word Germany', not a lot of people will start reminiscing about romantic afternoons full of classic values like elegance, delicacy, sensitivity or even the slightest susceptibility to following heart instead of function. But that's wrong. Anyone who has actually ever really seen that country knows that this culture has so much more to offer than Autobahn, Autobahn, Autobahn. It's always hard to speak for 85 million people but Germans do share a love for these classic values. The Germans are quite sensitive, in fact. I think the most beautiful German word is Fingerspitzengefuhl,' which is literally translated as the feeling in the tip of your fingers'. Yes, Germans are that sensitive indeed. Now, let's start by admitting that I'm not completely objective when it comes to ‘ze Germans’. Since I was born and raised in The Netherlands (Amsterdam, yes, of course, Amsterdam), I wasn't supposed to really like them. I don't want to mention ‘The War’ th
The captivating new Andersen Geneve Tempus Terrae Baguettes
With more than 40 years of independent watchmaking experience, it's fair to say Svend Andersen is one of the most seasoned watchmakers and a leading character in the industry. After working at Patek Philippe in the 1970s, he founded Andersen Geneve in 1980 and since has been at the forefront of the indie scene. He's a founding member of the AHCI for instance, in which he has always aimed to share knowledge and help others where possible. One of the cornerstone models in Andersen Geneve's arsenal is the Tempus Terrae, a wonderful world timer inspired by the complication as developed by Louis Cottier for Patek in the 1930s. For 2022, Andersen Geneve presents a pair of captivating new Tempus Terrae with Sapphire or Aquamarine baguette set bezels. The Sapphire baguette-set version of the Andersen Geneve Tempus Terrae.Technically there's nothing new regarding this pair of Tempus Terrae models, as the differences from previous renditions are purely aesthetical. Yet, the duo combines the wonde
Introducing The New Chronometre Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1R.6-1 (SIHH 2018)
For the SIHH 2018, Ferdinand Berthoud, the high-end brainchild of Karl Friedrich Scheufele (co-CEO of Chopard), enriches its growing collection with a surprising watch, a true connoisseur’s piece with a strong focus on chronometry. Its original regulator-type display and its ultra-resistant carburised stainless steel case are new, yet its tourbillon/fusee-chain movement is the same marvel we knew already.?Like the previous editions of the Chronometre FB 1, on which this new?Chronometre Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1R.6-1 is based, this watch is an ode to the past and to the glorious watchmaker Berthoud. This watch is equipped with several?complications inspired by scientific instruments and marine chronometers. All of them have the same goal: improving precision. And while this was already visible on the previous watches introduced by the brand, the new one makes a statement in terms of display too. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Breaking News: Stephane Linder, CEO of TAG Heuer, just resigned from his position - Monochrome-Watches
In news which will come as a surprise to few, considering the rumblings which have been coming from the Swiss Manufacturer in recent times, after 21 years with the company, CEO Stephan Linder?has just announced his resignation from TAG Heuer, with immediate effect. So, what does this mean for this giant among watch brands?BackgroundThe story began during Baselworld 2014 with the introduction of a brand new in-house movement, the Calibre 80, a nicely finished and technically advanced engine. the clear intention was to elevate?the brand into higher markets, with prices from 6,000 to 8,000 euros. Together with this new movement, TAG Heuer also announced the creation of a new production plant, based in Chevenez (we explained it first here). Longines Spirit 37mm Unisex Black Dial (Specs & Price)
When presented in mid-2020, the Longines Spirit collection made quite an impact, with its well-balanced blend of vintage design, daily versatility, refined execution, precise movements and great content/price ratio. There was, on paper, a lot to be loved in the Spirit time-and-date model. Not everything is perfect though, or at least, not everything was what I expected when seeing the watches in the metal. Lugs that were too long, a date window that I’d love to see somewhere else on the dial… But the presentation recently of a new mid-size, Longines Spirit 37mm version is about (at least in my books) to change things. Clearly, I feel that Longines has a winning combination here, for every gender, every wrist. The typical sweet-spot-watch.To be fair, the following article is highly personal. It’s only my own take on things, and of course, you’ll be free to disagree. See, the Longines Spirit time-and-date has originally been released in 40mm and 42mm. All fine app
