The Cartier Pebble-Shaped "Baseball" Watch 2022 Re-edition
Cartier is often considered the master of shaped watches. Squared, oval, bell-shaped, asymetrical, cushion-shaped, barrel-shaped and many more… It’s an endless story, with the only limit being the capacity to be worn on the wrist. Some of the most emblematic and original designs of Cartier didn’t come from Paris’ HQ but from its London-based branch. The wildest ideas were brought to life, from the Crash in 1967 to the Maxi Oval in 1969 and the Double Strap in 1970. There is another design that we haven’t seen resurrected yet… until today, with the comeback of the so-called Baseball or the Cartier Pebble-Shaped Watch.?According to scholarship, this watch is the perfect example of Cartier’s creativity and adaptation to trends, reflecting the feeling of excitement in London at the beginning of the 1970s, following the swinging sixties. A great example of the spirit of creativity of the brand’s London-based branch is the so-called Pebble or B
History - Why Snoopy Ended Up On an Omega Speedmaster after Apollo 13
At first, this might raise some questions… What can the link be between a comic character, a chronograph watch and a space agency? While the connection between the last two should be quite familiar to most of you, watch enthusiasts (obviously), the presence of Snoopy in this 3-way equation is more questionable. Sure, Snoopy is cute and has become a cult character over the years, but why would he be printed on the dial and caseback of an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch? What do space exploration, watchmaking and comics have in common? Well, the answer is simple: Apollo 13, an incident, the recovery of the crew and a special honour awarded for outstanding achievements.?As 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Mission Apollo 13, we thought it would be a great idea to look back at the role of the Omega Speedmaster in recovering the crew, how it earned the Silver Snoopy Award and which Speedy watches are linked to Snoopy. The Moonwatch on board Apollo 13As all of us perfectly know by now, Ome
Deep Divers - Dive Watches that go 1000m and beyond - Monochrome Watches
Dive watches are some of the most beloved and popular timepieces. In the 1960s, the military and professional diving requirements, together?with the growing popularity of scuba diving, made the importance of trustworthy subaquatic instruments paramount.?The first modern dive watches were born to monitor dive times in the briny depths. The hardiest of them can withstand the pressure at the bottom of the Marianas Trench (even though we are talking concept watches here). Their depth rating by far exceeds your most extreme needs, but there is something fascinating about their extreme engineering. And a rugged dive watch has always been a symbol of the adventurer in us all. Here are six dive watches that can fathom depths of 1000m and beyond released in the past few years.Note: Naturally, this is a non-exhaustive list so do not hesitate to mention your?favourite members in this category! Deepsea ref. 126660The extreme-depth received a facelift at Baselworld 2018. The essence of this prof

Ulysse Nardin Freak X "Qatar Watch Club" Edition (Price)
Watch clubs are certainly a growing phenomenon, with more and more local initiatives to encourage collecting. Clubs are a great way to generate passion and increase horological knowledge among their members. Among the many clubs that have popped up recently, one seems very active and even creates special watches for its members, the Qatar Watch Club – remember that special Tudor Pelagos earlier this year? The QWC has announced its third special edition watch, and the first done in collaboration with Ulysse Nardin. And this time, the Doha-based enthusiasts opted for a Freak X, one of the most striking watches the brand currently produces.Introduced during the SIHH 2019, the Ulysse Nardin Freak X was a highly interesting take on a fascinating concept, the Freak. Born in 2001, this piece was one of the first horological concept watches to surface. With a design and display from outer space, it was also an innovative creation that commercially introduced silicium technology. For the
